Special Announcement from Make Noise!

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

http://www.makenoisemusic.com

"Make Noise is proud to announce Plexiphon!

The Make Noise Soundhack Plexiphon is a stereo, modeless spatial texturizer which allows for continuously morphing between reverberations and multi-tap echoes, the widest range of possible results being neither reverb nor echo, and all results highlighting and amplifying character previously hidden in the source material being processed.

The Plexus control simultaneously modulates the number of feedback paths in the algorithm, and their entanglement together. The Size of the paths determines the temporal relation between them, operating like a “delay time,” or a “room size,” at either extreme of Plexus.

Diffuse and Color offer softening/sharpening/darkening/brightening effects over time.

Couple and Skew are stereo operations: Couple determines to what degree the left and right sides are isolated or intermingled (from “dual mono” to fully interlaced stereo), while Skew offers simultaneous inverse or tandem control of the left and right paths on the Plexus, Size, and Color parameters.

The Send gate input (normalled high, or patchable) determines whether and when the input signal will be fed into the Plexus.

Plexiphon | The World's Most Haunting Reverb Is Back

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Nobody has said it out loud, but Plexiphon is definitely Erbe-Verb 2.0.
I will prove it by running it with the old Shared System. I replaced Echophon and Erbe-Verb with Mimeophon and Plexiphon but the Shared remains the Shared. However, when experimenting with different sources - and you'd love the #VHIKK X as a guest - Plexiphon suddenly sounds as new as it's designed to be. When I made the 'What is a Plexus' video, I used XAOC Samarkanda to make my own network so if you want to learn what a plexus is, check it out."

Plexiphon Is Now Shipping! | Make Noise

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"On Saturday, October 3rd, at 3 pm, Tom Erbe will be at Perfect Circuit in Burbank, California, talking about all things Plexiphon and soundhack. The event is free!

An envelope follower is provided at the CV output for re-integration of the Plexus into its own controls or elsewhere in the voltage controlled system.

Plexiphon is built from entirely new code by Tom Erbe, specifically for Make Noise’s newest digital hardware.

Understanding the Make Noise Plexiphon

video upload by Braintree56

"The Make Noise Plexiphon is a spatial processor - not quite a delay, not quite a reverb - something else entirely.

In this video, I explore what Plexiphon is actually doing and how its interconnected network of delay and feedback paths can move from distinct echoes to dense, reverberant spaces."

What is a Plexus | feat. XAOC Samarkanda and WMD Sequential Switch Matrix

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Yes, I want to make a PlexiPhon video too. It's always a joy when MakeNoise announces a new Tom Erbe collab, and always a drag to wait for it to cross the Atlantic. I have it on pre-order since I saw the first video. As far as I can tell, MakeNoise didn't explain what a 'plexus delay' is and how it differs from, let's say, a Mimeophon. At first listen they sound like very close family, maybe even too close. However, MakeNoise did a follow-up video where we could hear how the PP changes its delay line like a chameleon, depending on whatever goes into the module and I had a clear WOW moment.

But I still didn't know what a Plexus was, and since I am writing a Book that's supposed to last at least 50 years, I had to do some research. The term is mainly used in biology, describing complex junctions in our nervous system. The term is adopted by networking and represents a complex node to node network. Now it's a small step from a delay line to a delay network, and from a delay network to a reverb. The fun part about a closed plexus is that it can re-encounter elements from anywhere in the chain. Imagine taps that can select crossroads and take a long way home.

I explored the concept with XAOC Samarkanda Quad Delay, which allows me to 'patch program' any combination of four delays with four feedback paths. It's a plexus, but a very simple 'square'. I decided to use the WMD Sequential Switch Matrix so I could patch the I/O in a 4x4 grid. It still doesn't sound like much, but now a 'tap' can travel over 65.536 different routes (2 to the power of 16) which is more than enough to create a vast diffusion network.

I am aware it's a lot of patching and most of you won't be able to follow, but you can freely experiment in VCV too, and learn a LOT. And let's not forget the PlexiPhon can be on its way to the stores right now, which could downsize my experiment into one convenient little module. I can't wait to get my hands on one. But honestly, if you own a Samarkanda, experiment with it first, and only buy new stuff if you really have to. Remember this: It's not the module, it's the behavior!"

Explaining and testing Plexiphon by Make Noise

video upload by Stazma

"More infos and affiliate links in the description // Support on Patreon to get samples from this session: / stazma

Today we are going to check out Plexiphon by Make Noise & Soundhack.

This is a very interesting effect module that blend multi-tap delay and reverb by giving you big macro controls over a giant feedback network.
Like the Erbe-Verb it is fully modeless so it will create all sort of weird unrealistic sounding reverb like effect (hence the name texturizer). The delay side can be a bit more « normal » but the multi-tap nature of it makes it quite weird (in a good way).
It is a very impressive and fun time and space playground.

Have fun!!!"

DUB PLEX | Make Noise

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"A subterranean Plexiphon patch.

Plus a visual score by Bruce Magill, realized sonically by Norman Freund!

More info about Norman's performance below:

SoundCloud: / landscape-graphic-score
BandCamp: https://normanfreund.bandcamp.com/tra...

Description:
Late 2025 Walker Farrell from MakeNoise started an international music challenge for musicians to participate in, submit your own Graphic Score, then at the draw of a hat, you would be assigned someone else's score to interpret and create music from. I am always interested in music challenges and the more off-beat the better.

Late December 2025 names were drawn at random, Walker constructed a collection of MakeNoise modular synthesis cards to generate random numbers to set who gets what score. I was allocated a topographical map from Bruce Magill that contained some text notes and penciled in graphics. Bruce had a musical concept in mind for this score but did say "Notes for this graphic score are only a suggestion. You can disregard them and interpret this score in any way you like, if you wish. ... Don't overthink." So I did have free reign to interpret the score as I wished, so I could let my imagination run wild. In my younger years I did a lot of wilderness hiking so was and still am, quite familiar with topographic maps, so for me this was the perfect score, something I could relate to and understood. As a side note, there is no right answer for interpreting a graphic score, so understanding is not an essential ingredient, however a vivid imagination is. It is a bit like laying on the grass and looking up at the clouds -- what do you see beyond back scattered light from suspended vapours in the sky.
