"Eowave has been designing sensor systems since 2002. We are are now releasing 2 modules that enables to use sensors with modular systems, the EO-310 SENSOR SIGNAL PROCESSOR and EO-311 SENSOR TO CV modules. You can check them out and the compatible sensors on

www.eowave.com/EO-310.php
www.eowave.com/EO-311.php

These will be ready for shipping at the end of March."

"Eowave EO-310 SENSOR SIGNAL PROCESSOR

With the module EO-310 SENSOR SIGNAL PROCESSOR, we wanted to share eowave sensor systems that we have been designing for more than 10 years with the world of modular systems. This new module enables to plug any eowave sensor to control a parameter of a modular system. Sensor type will be chosen depending on which parameter you want to control. Among sensors, we propose IR distance sensors, pressure sensors, position sensors, tactile sensors, tilts, capacitive pads...

With the signal processing parameters (lag/offset/gain), you will be able to process the signal to get the best response from the sensor."

"Eowave EO-311 SENSOR TO CV

With the module EO-311 SENSOR TO CV, we wanted to share eowave sensor systems that we have been designing for more than 10 years with the world of modular systems. This new module enables to plug 4 of any eowave sensor to control parameters of a modular system. Sensor type will be chosen depending on which parameter you want to control. Among sensors, we propose IR distance sensors, pressure sensors, position sensors, accelerometers, tactile sensors, tilts, capacitive pads...

The EO-311 SENSOR TO CV enable to connect 0-5V sensors to outputs of parameters of your modular systems. It ensures the powering of the sensor and an adequate buffering of the sensor signal into CV.

The module EO-310 SENSOR SIGNAL PROCESSOR can be added to add more processing paramaters of the signal from the sensors."

"A very short (and shaky and grainy and noisy) video of the mighty Eowave Metallique speaker system from the MusikMesse 2013: a suspended ride cymbal with a speaker/transducer who is amplifying the signal from Eowave Persephone. Pure magic with Martenot heritage... Sorry for the bad video quality."

info@eowave.com"

"With Eobody3 for MODULAR, Eowave has developped a range of modules (eurorack format), which offers a real bridge between modular systems and other protocol devices. With a choice of 6 modules to control modular synthesizers directly with USB, MIDI, sensors, computer, Ethernet (OSC), IPhones, IPads, lights and vice versa… Eobody3 for MODULAR is the missing link between the modular world and today’s technology. It’s now possible to control modular synths parameters with softwares, to control softwares with modular synths… You want to use your IPhone as a controller for your modular synth? No problem! While most of IApps only offer digital sounds modular synth simulations, we've chosen to take IPads control possibilities to take advantage of all technologies.

Eobody3 MODULAR modules are working with the module EO-300 Eobody3 MODULAR CORE. Then, add the module of your choice depending on your needs"

eowave Releases Capsule TITAN

"Eowave crew is proud to announce the release of the Spatiolab Capsule TITAN, also available in individual modules. Because Titan has a thick atmosphere able to carry sound waves, the moon is a noisy place…

For a long time, we’ve imagined the music of the space to be a sweet song of gods, crystalline magical sounds. And we thought that the space was a silent place, cold and empty. Since 2004, the Cassini-Huygens mission has recorded some sounds of the space, different from everything we’d imagined before, shock of particles launched in the space at a prodigious speed, a deep chaos, unexpected, which the ESA/NASA has sometimes called « alien sounds »… The Cassini-Huygens mission started the exploration of Titan in 2007.

Since 2000, Eowave designs instruments for electronic music. The Titan Capsule is a fascinating and immersive experimentation mixing space mysteries and music. It will make you explore sound dimensions that are still unknown.

Titan has a very thick atmosphere able to carry sound waves. With the Capsule TITAN, we’ll get onboard to explore how the sound goes across Titan orange thick atmosphere. In a way, the Capsule Titan is a simulation station able to reproduce the journey of the sound waves crossing Titan’s atmosphere and offer the possibility to modulate parameters like the thickness of the haze, the ionisation of the magnetosphere, Titan’s magnetic glow, or low frequency zones.

The Capsule Titan is a station composed of 7 modules:

- 2 TITAN discrete oscillators
- 1 MAGNETOSPHERE: 24 dB discrete filter
- 1 SOMMATEUR – ATTENUATEUR: mixer
- 1 A. D. discrete amp
- 1 RAYONNEMENT envelope
-1 ZONE B.F. : 2 x LFOs
- MIDI interface

The Capsule Titan comes in a ½ rack format aluminium case with French oak from Morvan, with MIDI interface, European PSU, and 10 eowave patch cables.

Price : 699 euros incl VAT / 549 euros (without case, no MIDI interface, no patch cables, no PSU)
Each modules are also available for resale separately.

MATRIXSYNTH NAMM 2013: eowave Booth Pics & Orage Magnetique Video

Published on Feb 4, 2013 matrixsynth·263 videos

Demo of the new Orage Magnetique modular synthesizer by eowave. If you look closely you will see that the individual modules are on one large panel.  The system is compatible with eurorack and other modular systems that support the 1 volt per octave standard.  This is another example of an easy way to get into the modular world by picking up a synth that happens to also be a modular.  eowave said the inspiration for the synth were lunar landscapes and the exploration of sound.

Also featured at the booth were the eowave DOMINO desktop mono synth, eurorack modules and new infrared & touch interfaces.  See the pics below for the individual modules.  In the last image you will see the eowave ribbon controller sitting on top of what looks like a gong.  That's actually a speaker.  Someone apparently mistook it for a gong during the show and hit it displacing the speaker!  Not me BTW.  :)

NAMM: Eowave Persephone markII

via eowave
"Eowave is rethinking instruments from the past with smart sensor technology.
The result is a new innovative instrument with real analogue oscillators, a duophonic ribbon, 100% compatible with the computer environment with a USB I/O, MIDI I/O and 4 CV out. “We’re exploring ideas from the past and rethinking them with new technology to create new interfaces for musical expression”, says Marc Sirguy, designer of the Persephone markII.

Eowave creates the first duophonic ribbon
Sensor technology now enables to recreate controls like ribbons with a new accuracy and a new duophonic process. The ribbon enables to play glissando like on a Theremin, les Ondes Martenots or a Trautonium. The addition of one oscillator takes all its dimension with the new duophonic ribbon which extends the instrument sonorities spectral to play simple chords, but also enables numberless modulations, e.g. FM of one oscillator on the second one.

A 100% analogue audio signal path
The Persephone markII has two analogue oscillators with a waveform from triangle to saw, going from 1 Hz to more than 20 000 Hz. An analogue resonant 12dB low-pass filter inspired from the filters from the 70s-80s enables to shape the sound. With its entire analogue audio signal path, the Persephone markII can generate notes with a continuous variable range up to ten octaves to create deep and resonant cello tones on the lowest notes to ultrasonic frequencies on the highest pitches. An optical modulation key will transmit the slightest vibration for expressive modulations.

8 factory routings, 8 users routings: a modular architecture
16 routing presets enable to select different routing architectures between the sound parameters and the 7 controls available (ribbon pressure, ribbon position1 & 2, key, pedals 1 & 2, LFO) for 8 destinations (lo pitch, hi pitch, filter, VCA lo, VCA hi, filter mod1, filter mod2 and VCA). 8 presets are fixed and 8 are editable users presets configurable thru a free software. Users routing presets will be stored in the Persephone2 internal memory. This new section significantly increases the instrument control and modulation possibilities.

Compatibility with computer music environment
The A/D conversion is made with Eowave ESS DSP. This process assures a 12 bits resolution (4096 values) conversion for an accurate musical gesture. It’s 100% MIDI compatible and uses USB full speed 12 Mb/s. This makes the Persephone2 compatible with all MIDI compatible softwares whilst the latency is reduced at less than 1,5ms.

A smart controller
With a complete I/O section featuring 4 CV out, 2 pedals in, MIDI in & out, audio out, USB (MIDI), the Persephone markII can be turned into a powerful and unique controller to control most of your analogue or digital synths."

Storm For Stu

"Made this jam over the course of two days for Stu over @ Eowave. ALL sounds are sourced from an Eowave Orage. The only effects that were used are delay from an Alright Devices Chronoblob and reverb from an Intellijel Springray on the arpeggiated chords. Everything else is the raw Eowave Orage being manipulated by either a Happy Nerding FM Aid, Stillson Hammer MKII or a Mannequins Just Friends. An Eowave Centre de Controle performed the MIDI and trigger duties. An Intellijel Quadra performed envelope duties.

All sounds were compiled and arranged in Ableton Live. Some sounds were reversed and spread out in the stereo field. No filters or EQ except for a mix/master rack in Ableton for final mixing.

I wanted to keep the sounds as pure as from the source as possible :)

Hang up your hangs ups and let your hearts be happy!"

eowave Persephone analog synth

via this auction

"Handmade boutique monophonic analog synthesizer with pressure sensitive ribbon controller. This is an amazingly flexible synth with a 100 % analog oscillator. You can set the range of the ribbon controller from a single octave all the way to 10 octaves! The timbre is also adjustable, there’s a nice low pass filter, an LFO, and it’s quite easy to get Moog type “fretless” bass sounds, as well as a very nice theremin imitation (and it’s much, much easier to play than a theremin). With the right amplification, I think you could get a pretty good ondes martenot sound out of the Peresphone, as well some cello-like tones.

It’s very nicely built as well. Nice solid case, smooth, stained wood panel on the top. The expression key is polished wenge. Jacks in the back are clearly labeled. It has MIDI In/Out as well as CV out. It will take an expression pedal (not included) as well.

There are four operating modes that determine how the expression key, the ribbon controller, and an expression pedal will behave. The oscillator can produce a sine wave, a triangle and smooth gradations in between. In addition, you can use the Persephone as your MIDI controller, and use practically any midi equipped synthesizer or sound module as your sound source, while maintaining the pressure sensitive ribbon controller on the Persephone as your master “keyboard.” It’s also a great instrument if you’re interested in using non-equal tempered pitches—quarter tones and third tones are just as easy to sound on it as the typical 12-tone chromatic ones, and alternate tunings are as easy to find on it as they are on a non-fretted string instrument, such as a violin, a cello, or a fretless bass guitar.

Detailed review available here.

This is a professional instrument, built by hand in Paris by eowave, and shipped from France here to the U.S. Note that this auction is for the stand-alone “desktop” Persephone, not the suitcase model. It is an exactly as new instrument and will be shipped in its original packaging, complete with the small manual and all other paperwork.

Here’s a link for the eowave description: Note that the desktop Mk I is currently out of stock and no longer available at eowave."
