Radikal Technologies Delta CEP A - Factory Presets

Published on Mar 1, 2019 Jörg Schaaf

"DELTA CEP A
Some of the factory presets I created.

The DELTA CEP A is a new semimodular musicsynthesizer with monophonic and paraphonic playmodes, preset memories and snapshot automation. The DELTA CEP A is the perfect starting point into the EURORACK world and will become available soon as desktop standalone synthesizer and EURORACK module. The DELTA CEP A works just out of the box without any cable patching. If you are looking for a EURORACK FX unit or for POLYPHONY within your cabinet, you should also have a closer look as well. Are you curious about connectivity with your other gear? The DELTA CEP A has a MIDI interface and connects to every MIDI gear (MIDI sequencers, Keyboards etc.) The desktop version comes with standard 1/4 inch jack inputs and outputs."

Padding with the Delta CEP A

Published on Feb 15, 2019 Jörg Schaaf

"Some 'padding' with the Delta CEP A. Not bad for a "monophonic" synth ;-)
I did two snapshots for that sound. One of them uses only the Bandpass Filter and the other the Bandpass and the lowpass filter at the same time. The second sound also changes the waveform from a Sawtooth to a pulse. But the main sound animation comes from the modulation of the digital stereo multimode filter. The cutoff frequencies are modulated with opposite LFO phases to get this nice stereo animation in the sound.
The Delta CEP A has two different paraphonic modes. One retriggers the envelope everytime a new note message comes in. And the other mode only adds the two additional oscillators per voice without triggering the envelope.
At the end I am adding a little bit EFFEXX stuff to the sound.
Last but not least. In case you don't know this mode in the Delta. The paraphonic mode has 4 voices with two oscillators each. Just enough to create some phat pads with the Delta.

Radikal Technologies Delta CEP Set to Ship Next Week

DeltaRND Seq Published on Feb 13, 2019 Jörg Schaaf

"The Delta CEP A's LFO can trigger the ADSR envelope. That works even, when the LFO is set to. Each Random Voltage step will simultaneously create a gate signal. Just hold SHIFT and turn the ADSR section decay knob for a LFO-ADSR Assignment. The shift & decay combination will control the gate time of the LFO ADSR sync signal..

The RND signal is fed into the 1V/OCT input of the Delta's swarm oscillator and the swarm oscillators pitch quantizer is set to a major pentatonic scale.

The sequence starts with a single pitch because the LFO depth is set to 0.

I am using the EFFEXX effect module for modulated delay effects, phasing, reverb and filtering simultaneously in a serial configuration. I used the TAP function of the EFFEXX module to synchronize the delay effects. You can watch me adjusting the delay time after cranking up the LFO speed...

And last, but not least. I have good news. The first Delta CEP As will ship next week. So, the waiting time is over finally. I am very satisfied with our development efforts. Thank you guys for the patience. I hope, you will enjoy the result of our creation."

Delta CEP A Snapshot Morphing & Drum Module Demos

Published on Feb 11, 2019 Jörg Schaaf

"The Delta CEP A morph function is based on snapshots. A snapshot is a subprogram within a soundprogram. Snapshots can hold variations of the sound or complete different sounds. The snapshots can then morph from one step to the next. In this example the keystep sequences the Delta CEP A. The Delta CEP A sound morphs through eight different snapshots.

Delta CEP A as a drum module

Published on Feb 11, 2019 Jörg Schaaf

"Why not using the Delta CEP A as a drum module? I saved snapshots of different drumsounds. Afterwards I connected a Doepfer A-155 sequencer. The sequencer line triggers the envelope, one control voltage line selects the snapshots and one line controls the pitch. I fed the drum groove into the FXs of my mixing desk from time to time to add more variations. But I really like the opportunity to use the Delta as a drum module."

Psychedelic Beatfood

Published on Dec 7, 2018 Jörg Schaaf

Jörg Schaaf of Radikal Technologies.

"I thought, it's time again introducing some beats into my music. For this little piece I first programmed a bunch of drum sounds with the Delta CEP A and created this drum loop. I fed the drumloop into my desktop mixer and faded in and out some FXs while capturing the resulting two track backing in Logic PRO. Then I created two overdubs with the Accelerator.

DeltaEffexxSpectralis

Published on Aug 8, 2018 Jörg Schaaf

"The Delta CEP A repeats just one note with a fat swarm oscillator sound. The output of the Delta is fed into the EFFEXX Multi FX module for some reverb. The RT-1701 effect setting adds a nice dark atmosphere to the sound. All other instruments are sequenced and played by the Spectralis 2 Synthesizer. BTW. - the Spectralis II drum sounds in this example are samples that I created with our Eurorack modules.

Delta CEP A: Paraphonic Chords & Spectralis Groove and Bass

Published on Aug 6, 2018 Jörg Schaaf

Jörg Schaaf - Hypnotica Hypnotica

Published on Mar 9, 2018 Jörg Schaaf

"Tonight I tried to bring a little bit controlled random into a A-155 sequence. My approach is a little bit different from other setups. It uses one VCA, a noise source and a sample and hold module. Very important in this setup is also a quantizer for the pitch control voltage. I used the Delta Cep A quantizer for that and selected a minor pentatonic scale for my sequence. The output from the sequencer is fed into the VCA input and the VCA output connects to the 1V/Oct input of the oscillator. If you run the sequence you can already change the resulting melodies by changing the VCA level. You will realize, that lower pitched notes will get affected less than higher pitched notes. I like that behavior. Adding random is quite easy. One trigger line of the A-155 sequencer triggers the Sample and Hold Circuit. The noise is connected to the S&H probe input and the S&H output connects to the VCA control voltage input. Because of the quantizer, only matching notes are generated.

I added a bass sequence from the Spectralis Hybrid synth with Spectralis' internal step sequencer. Some steps are running with a probability of only 50% to get variations in the bass sequence too. On top of the two main sequences I added a little disturbance by triggering a chimes multisample I did last week. In order to get a more unrealistic metallic sound out of that multisample I set the envelope to a very short decay and send this through the hiphpass filter, put some random pan onto it and added a pitch modulation (vibrato). Logic ProX acts as the clock for the A-155 (via an Arturia Keystep) and for the Spectralis.

I could not resist to play some live notes on top of the backings. I played mainly the Accelerator, the DX-7 II and the D-550. I hope, you like it...

And yes - everything sounds just better with a couple of different delays. So I added them here too ;-)"
