SOMA WARP - Part 1. Master effects (SOMA labs demo, no talk)

WARP is a high-quality multi-purpose audio processing unit, able to add might and magic to almost any instrument. It contains 15 different effects that can be divided into three types:

Spatial effects — ranging from traditional reverbs to granular, experimental algorithms, with pitch-shifting, reverse and micro-loops. Most of the spatial effects feature extremely long decay times, all the way to infinity. With feedback ratios above 1 you can drive the algorithm into self-oscillation for creating endless, rich, lively soundscapes out of almost any sound. To keep the sound under control with reasonable headroom and tonal aesthetic, all the generative algorithms include dedicated modules to automatically control sound levels.
Special effects — such as flanger, sample rate/bit reduction, vintage tape simulation. All special effects include unusual functions giving them a unique SOMA flavor.
Dynamic effects and filters — compressors, distortions, filters. All the effects in this category can be applied to submixes, e.g. a rhythm section group, or even to the whole mix – so one can conventionally call them master effects. All the effects in this category also have their unique extended features, SOMA-style.
All of that makes WARP a great unit for spatial processing of any acoustic or electronic instruments — guitar, vocals, strings, synthesizers etc., — as well as processing drums or complete mixes. WARP uses top-class audio chains and AD/DA-converters, same as those found in the best professional audio-interfaces made by APOGEE, FOCUSRITE, LEXICON, ECHOAUDIO, LINE 6, NOVATION. This prevents sound deterioration, even in such demanding situations as processing a complete mix. WARP has stereo inputs and outputs, compatible with both balanced and non-balanced connections. All of the sound processing is digital, including the MIX control. The AD/DA resolution is 24bit/48KHz. The internal digital processing resolution is 32bit IEEE.

WARP has a simple, intuitive interface, with instant direct access to all functions — perfect for playing live. Every processing parameter has a dedicated CV input, controllable via Eurorack systems and any CV source.

Bastl BitRanger & Soma Cosmos: Live Patching & Looping [NoTalking]

video upload by Andre Bregegere

"Today I am exploring the bitRanger, a collaboration between Casper Electronics and Bastl Instruments. It is a patchable analog logic synthesizer that allows for the creation of a wide range of sounds, from drones to arpeggios, through its unique patching system.

The bitRanger is processed through the Cosmos ‘Drifting Memory Station,' a unique (and awesome!) asynchronous multitrack looper/delay by Soma Laboratory.

This performance was recorded live:, and lightly mastered in Pro Tools. This is a long one, with very minimal editing: feel free to skip around using the chapters below!

The Flux, a new instrument from SOMA Laboratory (Buchla & Friends 2025)

video upload by CatSynth TV

"We are treated to a demonstration of the Flux, a new multi-dimensional expressive instrument from SOMA Laboratory. 'Unlike the Theremin which works by virtue of the capacitive coupling of hands and antennae, FLUX is based on magnetic principles. Two magnetic bows are pressed between your fingers, and the interface is a multipolar magnetic sensor, registering the bows’ positions and movements. The X coordinate of the artist’s right-hand bow controls the note’s pitch, while the Z coordinate controls volume. The left-hand bow’s X, Y and Z coordinates control the various synthesis parameters.'

Soma Laboratory Introduces HARVEZI HAZZE Distortion Pedal

video uploads by SOMA Laboratory

Playlist:
1. HARVEZI HAZZE + Drums & Synth (no talk demo by SOMA)
2. HARVEZI HAZZE + Guitar & Bass (no talk demo by SOMA)
3. HARVEZI HAZZE (SOMA Labs)

"Harvezi Hazze — a versatile and quite unique distortion pedal with a wide tonal palette.

The heart of Harvezi Hazze is a waveshaper designed around a unijunction transistor, a relic from the early days of the semiconductor industry.

The unique properties of the unijunction transistor allow one simple component to replace a number of complex devices: depending on the operating mode, we can get a distortion, a limiter, a waveshaper and a generator — with a smooth transition between them.

The signal chain of the unit consists of an optical compressor with fixed parameters; a dual-mode distorting amplifier with either softer or harsher clipping; a waveshaper built around a unijunction transistor; and a tone stack section trying to tame all this mess.

Harvezi Hazze works perfectly with guitar, bass, drums and synthesizers.

The net price (without VAT, shipping, customs, money transfer expenses): 290 Euros.

HARVEZI HAZZE will be available for purchase in January 2025."
