Rare ARP 2600 Blue Marvin Jam (w/ Cameron Graves)

video upload by Anthony Marinelli Music

"It's always fun to perform with my good friend Cameron Graves aka "The Planetary Prince". I was introduced to Cameron and his brother Taylor Graves in 2008 by Jada Pinkett Smith when we co-scored her film, The Human Contract. We've remained friends and musical brothers ever since. We hope you enjoy this music that we created right before the cameras started rolling . We intend to make more of these synth jam videos in the near future.
We're playing the solos on an extremely rare ARP 2600 "Blue Marvin" which was a prototype for the Tonus ARP 2600 that actually went into production. The rest of the synths include a later model gray faced ARP 2600, an orange faced ARP 2600, the Korg ARP 2600 M, Moog Minimoog, Korg MS-20 and ARP Omni String Synthesizer. The drums are performed by my engineer Ben Rachlis on a vintage LinnDrum the he is processing through The OTO Biscut, Bim, Bam and Boom.
Please remember to like and subscribe to these videos. It would mean a lot to me and my dedicated and enthusiastic crew. Thank you to all for your support and inspiring comments!

Playing with the Realistic Concertmate Moog MG-1

video upload by Ben Cameron

"Never did a lady have so many names. I had to let go of my first MG-1 years ago when she died on me. I've regretted it ever since. the MG-1 was my first synth, and is a quirky, very useful machine. I just got this new one, and this video is of me sitting on the floor having a good time. I'm not at the studio, so pardon the handheld phone audio. Enjoy her clicky key bed. #moog #analogsynthesizer #synth #synthesizer #vintagesynths"

ARPchives LIVE! Episode 18: A Conversation with David Van Pelt

video upload by Alan R. Pearlman Foundation

Update: new Full Edit video.

https://alanrpearlmanfoundation.org/

"FYI: As will happen sometimes in live performances, we had some technical difficulties (i.e. the internet decided to be erratic several times in the beginning...). David Van Pelt was a true trooper, though our hostess could have chilled a bit. We will publish an edited version in the next few days! ARPCHIVES LIVE! is back! Our first guest of the year is David Van Pelt who also plays synthesizer in Acolyte*, a prog band from Australia. We'll have an interview, some video and demos and talk about the recent addition to his synth family, how he got into ARPs in the first place, his beautiful music, band and the synth scene in Australia.

Bonus Table 571

Bonus Table 571 from colleen whiteley on Vimeo.

"Bonus Table 571 is a collaborative experiment in joining science, design and music. This project is part of Reclaim NYC's Collaboration show happening during NYCXDESIGN 2013.

Pure tones tuned to the natural resonant frequency of the wood result in vibrations, determined by the tabletop's size shape and density. The vibrations reveal a geometric pattern inherent to the wood.

The resonant pattern is etched away by an enzyme cocktail tailored to the molecular structure of the wood. This process is similar to acid-etching a metal plate, such as in printmaking. The difference is that this is based on a live process; using enzymes derived from forest floor microbes.
This piece is auto-collaborative, in that its design elements are defined by interactions between its components and their inherent properties: The dimensions and density of the materials determine it’s resonant frequency which informs the pattern to be etched, and the makeup of the wood itself determines how deeply the enzymes etch into the wood.
Bonus Table 571 is a collaboration between Colleen & Eric Whiteley, Loe Hubbard scientist/bioengineer and Ben Cameron musician/sound designer."

Full story on Isotrope of Me here.  Some details on the use of the eurorack modular:

"We experimented with different designs and thicknesses of wood until finally we found a design that worked much like the head of a drum; 3 layers of laminate within a strong square frame. As you can see in the video, I used the TiptopAudio Z3000 oscillator to play a sine wave (at ample amplitude) through the surface with a 12 inch speaker cone, isolating the wood from the speaker with foam blocks.

After documenting the frequencies at which the wood resonated, they were programmed into the Makenoise Rene sequencer so that we could cycle through them for the video. What you see in the video is just what happens when you move from one frequency to another..."

Sancor Animorphic Lens vs. The Studio

Sancor Animorphic Lens vs. The Studio from Ben Cameron on Vimeo.
"Playing around with my new camera and and old animorphic lens that I had sitting around.

The soundtrack is 3 passes of doepfer using midi synched LFOs to trigger envelopes and transpose the oscillators. All of the other usual suspects are used as well. Korg EX 800, DSI Evolver, Yamaha TX81Z."

Doepfer VCF as Spectral Gate

Doepfer VCF as Spectral Gate from Ben Cameron on Vimeo.
"This video demonstrates the 24db and LP of the multi-mode filter being triggered by fast ADSRs to use them as spectral gates of sorts rather than routing the VCO sine waves through the VCA. It also demonstrates the S&H being used as a random note length modulator by varying the filter frequency of one of the 2 filters used."
