Your Modular Synthesizer's Best Friend Is The Digitakt II

video upload by EZBOT

"I can't imagine using my modular without having a sampler present to capture the unique and one-time sounds you get from your modular synthesizer. My go-to sampler for everything is the Digitakt II, if not that, than the Octatrack or M8 Tracker. Today we will dive into the workflow of writing music and sampling a eurorack system built around 2 voices with lots of effects."

Futureretro SWYNX Available in Extremely Limited Quantities & Other Updates / Tariff News

via Futureretro

Futureretro Swynx available in super limited quantities ONLY through our online store.

Using recently found old stock parts, Futureretro has built and is offering the long out of production SWYNX in super limited quantities (less than 10 units available). These use the same chassis, circuit boards, and parts as the original run (knobs are slightly different) and serves as a test for a possible re-introduction of the unit into the Futureretro catalogue in the near future.

The Swynx is a sync box that converts incoming MIDI messages to MIDI clock, DIN sync, CR-78 clock, and Analog clocks. In addition, the Swynx provides the ability to swing the timing of all these clock outputs and select different time signatures in real-time with the front panel controls, and can also act as a CR-78 pattern programmer. After you try it in your setup, you will realize just what you've been missing. For instance, many DIN sync devices do not provide a built-in swing function. And many MIDI sequencers and drum machines suffer from poor implementation of swing, preventing changes to be made live, or only providing swing for 4/4 patterns. Quite a few MIDI sequencers don't offer any swing function, including our own 777 and Mobius products. Now you can apply swing to any MIDI sequencer, and select new time signatures as well Need to sync your analog sequencer or arpeggiator with MIDI gear? No problem! Not only can you do so, but now you can swing the timing of those devices as well. You can even use the analog clock output to Gate the envelopes in a synthesizer. The clock duty cycle is 50% of a note duration. If you are a Roland CR-78 owner, you may have realized finding a WS-1 or TS-1 to program the CR-78 is next to impossible. The Swynx can replicate the programming capabilities of these units, plus provide sync to MIDI, and realtime swing adjustment. The ability to add swing to the CR-78's preset patterns alone will breathe new life into this old friend. The Swing value is accurate to 0.5% providing much more control resolution than is typically found in sequencers and drum machines. The Swynx provides 12 different time signatures to choose from. Some time signatures are duplicate, but provide different shuffle patterns for that time signature. Time signatures include 9/8, 7/8, 6/8, 5/8, 2/4, 4/4, 8/4, 3/4, and 6/4. The Swynx is all about making the gear you have sound better!

Swynx Features
Converts MIDI messages to MIDI clock, DIN sync, CR-78 clock, and analog clock
Can be used as a CR-78 pattern programmer
Control over the swing amount
Swing - 50% - 75% (0.5% resolution)
Time-signatures include 9/8, 7/8, 6/8, 5/8, 2/4, 4/4, 8/4, 3/4, and 6/4

No more NEW Vectra units will be sent out to stores after this month.
We have a very small order to fill with one US Store that will be filled by the end of May. After that, we will be out of Vectra parts and do not plan on restocking the product. The build time and cost is too excessive for us to continue this unique product. If you are wanting a Vectra and have not yet ordered a unit, the time to get them is now. Please check with your favorite stores for availability.

The 777
Many have asked, many are waiting and wanting to know details. ALL we can say at this point is that this product has been sent back to engineering. The 777 project has been a major undertaking and while close, seemingly minor issues have been exaggerated by parts availability. We continue to work towards this goal but no further information is available.

Furthermore, NO NEW manufacturing can be put in place until tariff issues are worked out.

DUSTING OFF // AnalogFX SER-2020 // Part 2 // No Talking

video upload by LESINDES

"Rebuilt of the ultra rare SYNTON SYRINX Dutch keyboard synth.
I cannot compare but the unusual filter setting of
2 bandpass and 1 lowpass VCFs, with 4 different routings
give a lot of modulation freedom and rendition of rather unusual sounds.

Since I am not a fan of black gear. I tried my best in 2023 and contacted
ANALOG FX. And they had been so kind as to manufacture a
custom blue face synth which I have only seen in some
preproductions units and, of course, in the historic
SYRINX which was available also in red.

For the image angle had to use the wide angle and so only a quite low resolution. So there is not much detail. Sorry for that."

Creating HUGE oscillator tones with OCCULT (+ Ouija & Wand) & the Nekyia Circuits Eurorack range

video upload by DivKid

"Here we have the 3 new Nekyia Circuits Eurorack modules - Occult, Ouija and Wand. We'll focus on the star of the show here, the TZFM, sub octave generating, Ian Fritz double pulser wave shaping and external crossfading oscillator OCCULT! However we use Wand to crossfade at audio rates into new tones and Ouija for some musical ring mod too.

It's been a pleasure to check out the existing modules and to use those alongside the new ones here. As always the focus is to provide ideas and techniques while demonstrating how things work. So I hope you can take some of the patches to try out.

Info, manuals etc // https://nekyiacircuits.com"

Occult is an analogue TZFM Triangle-core VCO/LFO with a wide frequency range and unique waveshaping capabilities! It features nine simultaneously available wave outputs: Sine, Triangle, Square and Pulse, a PWM Saw, Sub -1 and Sub -2, plus the outputs of Shaper and an interesting Pulser waveshaper circuit. Pulser is a waveshaper based on the “double pulser” circuit by Ian Fritz, able to produce exotic, rich sounding waveforms. The Shaper section adds a crossfader which can mix between the normalized Sine wave or any other external input and the Pulser or the also includes a TZFM input with an attenuator control, capable of producing more musical and complex FM tones than for every parameter as well as FM options make Occult a very versatile oscillator for sonic exploration!

4/27/25 Roland System 100m & SPH 323 + Peavey 1300 + Ace Tone MP-4 + Alesis MIDIVERB II

video upload by Cfpp0

"4/27/25 RYK 185 + Roland System 100m & SPH 323 Phase Shifter + Peavey 1300 + Ace Tone MP-4 + Alesis MIDIVERB II

I was going for Burzum low fidelity with the Peavey 1300 overloading and the Ace Tone MP-4 spring reverb feedbacking. Anyways, ALM Pamela’s New Workout clocks the right RYK Modular 185, which gates one of the Roland 140 envelopes and the left RYK 185, which gates the other envelope. Each 185 modulates the pitch of one Roland 110 VCO and VCF, while the VCFs are also modulated by LFOs from the 140 and 150 modules. The 140 envelopes control the two 110 VCAs, which are mixed on a Roland 132 and sent through the Roland SPH-323 Phase Shifter into the Peavey 1300 delay. The Ace Tone MP-4 is patched into itself for feedback as it further distorts the delayed signal and adds spring reverb."

VCO vs VA // Delia vs Nina - there's more to it than that

video upload by Starsky Carr

"What's the difference sonically? I've not heard these 2 demo'd side by side in depth. We know the specs - Melbourne Instruments Nina has 12 voices, each containing 2 VCOS plus a digital oscillator, and the Melbourne Instruments Delia uses virtual analog to do the same thing with 6 voices - with some 'Paraphonic PLUS' 12 voice modes.

There are other additions in the Delia, like FM, an extra LFO and envelope plus oyu can have dual effects in parallel or serial.

BUT.. what's the consequence of replacing the VCOs with the VA oscillators?"
