Synthmonger - MFOS SLMS Vs. PG
"www.musicfromouterspace.com soundlab mini-synth built by me, meets my Pattern Generator. The PG is controlling Osc 1 and Osc 2 frequency and the Attack Release generator. The AR is controlling the Filter cutoff and for a short time the VCA. It's actually a pretty simple patch for a very complex pattern."
"Same setup as the first video, only different mixes from the PG and speed. Autechre like beats are made when the two VCO's are sync'd together." YouTube via synthmonger.
Synthesizers.com Portable 22 Module Synthesizer
"The Portable-22 is a powerful 3-oscillator analog machine complete with envelope generators, amplifiers, a mixer, state-variable filter, ring modulator and more. Use any controller that provides MIDI. 25 patch cables are included and expansion is easy - just add more cabinets.
System Includes
Cabinet
QCP22 Vinyl-covered 22 space cabinet.
Internal Power Components
QPS1 Power Supply
QDH20 DC Power Harness
Modules
1) Q104 MIDI Interface
Creates control voltages and gate signals from MIDI keyboards and other MIDI devices.
1 Q105 Slew Limiter
Limits the rate of change of a signal. Useful for creating Glissando (Portamento), as an envelope generator, or a gate delay.
3 Q106 Oscillators
The Oscillator generates the basic waveforms needed to create sounds. Oscillators can also be used to generate control signals for amplifiers, filters, pan/fade and more. Provides 5 waveforms simultaneously, linear FM, exponential FM, hard sync, pulse width modulation, range selection and fine frequency tuning.
1 Q107 State Variable Filter
State Variable Filter providing Low Pass, High Pass, Notch, and Band Pass. Used to alter the harmonic content of waveforms. Includes voltage controlled resonance (Q) with a reversable attenuator, attenuatable frequency control, 1V/Octave frequency control, and a 2 channel mixer.
2 Q108 Amplifiers
Used to control the amplitude of an audio or control signal. Linear and exponential responses, dual control and signal inputs, and normal and inverted outputs.
2) Q109 Envelope Generators
Creates envelopes that are used to control filters, amplifiers, oscillators, etc. Attack, decay, sustain, release controls, manual triggering, LED output indicator. Can also be used as a gate delay.
1 Q110 Noise Source
Source of random signals used to create sounds such as thunder, drums, etc. and to create random control signals. White, pink, and low frequency random outputs with amplitude controls.
Up to 4 signals are mixed together. Manual attenuation of 2 inputs
1 Q116 Ring Modulator
Creates unusual sounds by multiplying 2 signals. Used for gong, bell, and many strange sounds.
1 Q117 Sample & Hold
Samples and holds a signal's voltage level constant - basically an analog memory. Output signals are normally used to control other modules. Often used in conjunction with the Q110 Noise module, or with an oscillator to create stairstep patterns.
1 Q124 Multiples
Provides for patching multiple signals. 12 total jacks in 3 groups of 4. 2 groups can be connected by a switch.
1 Q125 Signal Processor
Multifunction module provides signal inversion, attenuation, amplification, and adjustable voltage source.
1 Q118 Instrument Interface
Receives inputs from external devices such as guitars, microphones, drum triggers, etc. Amplifies then creates an envelope signal, gate signal, and trigger signal for use in processing by other modules.
1 Q137 Power Control/Interface
Controls the internal power supply and provides entry and exit connectors for AC and DC voltages.
Cables
9 QP4MM-12 Patch Cables, 1/4" Plugs, 12"
11 QP4MM-24 Patch Cable, 1/4" Plugs, 24"
5 QP4MM-36 Patch Cable, 1/4" Plugs, 36"
30" x 24" x 12", 40 pounds."
Transformer's Goes Modular

"When you see the film [Transformers] you'll be hearing a lot of distinct bass sounds. The main deep and dirty bass. A basic patch on my modular. For those that are interested is goes like this. 2xPlan B OSC (square/saw) into a doepfer phaser - the big one - out into a cwejman DMF-2 (a+b) 32dbx2 LPF. One side of the AB slightly higher than the other. ADSR into filter - adjust to taste. Overdrive the filter on one side, A or B, it end up being mono anyway, and one side keep it really low so you can't tell it's distorted. Feed into cwejman VCA2P that has a separate ADSR than the filter. And that's it. There's the 'Transformer's' Bass sound. So when you see the movie and wonder what the fuck that sound is, that's it. The only variation is some FM synthisis using Cynthia's Zero Osc and sometimes using a doepfer waveshaper.
All of this goes into my shadow hills pre/e27/560eq/and 1968 drawmer comp, just for more thickness and punch.
That's the only trick. The rest is layering with other sounds to add variation. Sounds from the neuron & nuke (waveguitar in particular)
Another thing to be sure of when getting a big cutting bass sound. Roll off your bass 50hz. You can add it later with EQ if you really need it. If there is a lot happening musically, you'll need the headroom."

MISC Synth Brochures
Follow up to the previous post.
The seller of that auction has a number of synth brochures up for auction.
They include the following and more:
ARP Catalog
Elka Synthex with Jean Michel Jarre
The McLeyvier (more info here)
Roland vintage analog
Yamaha MIDI Studio
REALTON SSAP-ZERO Digital Synth from 1983
Just a shot of the brochure via this auction. According to the auction the brochure has 4 pages.
This one via swissdoc who mentioned "As of synrise it was only a prototype. Realton is the company which made the VARIOPHON." You can read more about the Variophon in this post.
If you know more about the SSAP-ZERO feel free to comment or shoot me an email.
Serge Plexiglass VCS

via this auction
"this is a very special Bananalogue Serge VCS module, only the second one we've made with a plexiglass front panel, and the first in the Frac Rack format. This module is based on the classic Serge DUSG module (possibly the single most flexible synth module ever created), you can find much more information about the module at our website.
This module is a special one-off Frac Rack VCS created with a translucent red plexi front panel, red indicator LED and red switch cap, with yellow laser engraved legends. Fits fine in a Blacet or PAIA brand Frac Rack and works great alongside Wiard/Blacet/PAIA/MetalBox/etc etc modules in this form factor. However, since the panel is plastic it is more prone to scratching and care MUST be taken when mounting the module not to tighten the mounting screws too tight or the panel could crack. I would actually recommend using some small rubber or plastic washers between the mouting screws and the actual module. When it's in the rack with the LED blinking away the module looks pretty neat!"

Van Halen - Jump (Greensboro)
YouTube via almostsaved.
"Van Halen performs "Jump" in Greensboro, NC on September 29, 2007."
This one has been making its rounds. In case you missed it, word is the OB-Xa synth piece is a recording being incorrectly played back at a sample rate of 48k instead of 44.1k - completely out of tune against Eddie Van Halen's guitar. Don't miss David Lee Roth's baton performance after the horrendous guitar solo as well as him riding a huge inflatable microphone shortly after.
