Tesla Coils at SEAMUS - "Let's Go" by The Cars

YouTube via marksmartus
Synth trivia: the lead sync sound is the Sequential Circuits Prophet-5. It was a default patch programmed by none other than John Bowen. You can here him talk about it in this post - video 6 at 2:08.

video description
"This was performed as an encore at the SEAMUS (Society for Electro Acoustic Music in the United States) conference at Sweetwater Sound in Fort Wayne, Indiana on April 18th, 2009. The Tesla coils were built by Steve Ward, Jeff Larson, and Terry Blake. Steve Ward and I worked out a control system to allow the coils to produce a variey of sounds, and I arranged the song for the coils. The video was posted by jenaber27, then I added some of the original Cars song to the audio and removed the embarrassing false start. :)"

"Jack working on the final mixdown of his electro-pop masterpiece. He was having some trouble with the A&R rep at his indie label but got that sorted with a good music lawyer. Now if only he'd stop trying to chase the backing girls!"

MC09 vs Jomox09 Guitar Bass Sampling MINIMAL ELECTRO SOUL

"Played a guitar + mini bass track into Roland's MC-09 Mono Synth Analog 303 Modeling with 4 track Looper SAmpler built in. This thing can do more, such as step filtering on the recorded samples which I will explore next time. Linked for some minimal beat-building with the Jomox xBase 09 via MIDI. Unfortunately i only had a mono out cable to get back the sum into the computer - but i wanted to catch this on the fly quickly."

AudioMulch 2.0 - Illuminating the Shaper Contraption

YouTube via AudioMulch
"Preview of the soon-to-be-released version 2.0 of AudioMulch Interactive Music Studio. This short screencast demonstrates some uses of the Shaper contraption which are just as applicable to AudioMulch 1.0. Demonstrating at 2:09 that if you're not careful it is possible to drive the Shaper into nasty clipping even after you've gone to the trouble of limiting the output.

the automated metasurface controlling a simple voice synthesis patch. Sadly our screen recording software makes the real-time manipulation of the metasurface seem jumpy -- in reality it's as smooth as yacht rock. Created for the AudioMulch blog: http://www.audiomulch.com/blog"
