COMMODORE 64 SMURFEN GAME WITH MICHAEL JACKSON'S BILLIE JEAN SID CHIP TUNE

YouTube via redmartian
"I downloaded this game off of a BBS in the 80s and must have quickly forgotten about it. I was going through my old disks and came across it and .. WOW! What a hard game!
The title should be HOW TO LOSE AT SMURFEN"

Youth (cover) (original by Anthony Rother)

YouTube via grauoliv
"Just fooling around with the track Youth by Electro-Artist Anthony Rother from his Super Space Model album. Drums are from the Novation Drumstation, bass from Doepfer A-100, lfo sound from the virus and lead from Moog LP. Sequencing with Manikin Schrittmacher and MAM SQ 16. The TV was on (behind the camera), that's the kind of flashlights you see.

Of course, this can't compare to the original. So you don't need to tell me that AR has done it way better! ;-)"

Me giving thanks to you

"All the boards from CGS, populated with BrideChamber parts kits. A pleasure to build. Still missing a few parts here and there, but I can't wait to start testing and callibrating these!"

Gristleizer

via vav

"Smashing Guitars/Endangered Audio are indeed making a fully authorized Gristleizer available. At the TG show last night in Chicago at the Logan Square Auditorium , 7 were made available for sale. I picked one up, and TG was kind enough to sign it. I even requested Gen sign it next to the AC input, as it's kind of male but kind of female :P She seemed pleased. Here are the photos, and i'll try and get some demos up soon."

If you are new to the Gristleizer, see this post. I added the images and vav's notes as an update to that post as well.

Update: audio via vavmusic:

"Easy-peasy: Korg ER1 left/mono out to Gristleizer in. Gristleizer out to interface in. Recorded straight into Tracktion with no effects applied. Apologies for any digital clipping, Gristleizer is quite unruly. TG fans will recognize the drum pattern. Start of clip effect is bypassed, then put into VCF mode, manual tweaking of Speed, Depth, waveform type, Bias, Level. Switch is thrown from VCF mode to VCA at 1:08, manual tweaking of all controls again."

ARP / SOLINA STRING-ENSEMBLE - HQ SOUND DEMO

video upload by AnalogAudio1

"The Solina String-Ensemble came out 1973 and was the first "stand alone" electronic string ensemble - the original "string machine". It was a portable, cutdown version of the string ensemble, which was a part of the Eminent 310U organ. It sounds different to the Eminent 310U, although quite similar. It uses "divide-down" organ technology, is full polyphonic and has a very characterful sound.

The Solina was a great success in the seventies and was used by many artists on many recordings. The String-Ensemble was developed and produced by Eminent in Holland. ARP bought the rights to sell it under their name. Outside the USA the "ARP STRING-ENSEMBLE" is known as "SOLINA STRING-ENSEMBLE". For the US market, ARP just put ARP-stickers on it...

Many manufacturers tried to copy it (Logan String Melody, Elka Rhapsody, Crumar Multiman, Farfisa String Orchestra, Jen String Machine, Siel Orchestra, just to name a few). Indeed, every organ manufacturer had one to offer...

but the Solina remains the best (or at least one of the best) with his fat, unique and charming sound.

USERS:

Edgar Froese (Tangerine Dream) used it on many records (Green Desert, Aqua, Le Park, Underwater Sunlight, etc.), Herbie Hancock (Secrets), AIR (Moon Safari), Mike Oldfield, Richard Wright / Pink Floyd (Shine On You Crazy Diamond), Kraftwerk (Autobahn album), Elton John (Song for Guy), Nick Straker (A walk in the park), Geoff Downes / Buggles (Video killed the radio star), the Bee Gees and the Carpenters (on live performances) ..."

LFO Electric piano from the Juno G

YouTube via mik300z
"Just a rambling tune demonstrating one of the G's best sound banks i.e Piano. played through the ESQ 1 and a bottle of wine:) Some of the vintage elec. pianos are good, this is my favourite, has a really warm vintage sound that may not come across too well on youtube audio"
