Malekko / Wiard Borg Filter Episode 2 - Modes & Modulation
YouTube via bigcitymusic. follow-up to this post.
"Here we have the Cwejman VCO-2RM saw wave output running into the Borg. We're modulating the "Key In" with a slow sine wave LFO. This jack does a pretty good job of tracking 1v/oct actually! We are also running the sample & hold output of the Analogue Systems rs40 into the "Control In". You can hear how good this filter sounds when we start to crank up the resonance.
The bottom knob sweeps from low pass to high pass and you can hear the Korg part of the name Borg come out. Cool. The resonance is really really close to the MS-20. Halfway through you can see we pull the jumper off the back pcb and unleash the resonant fury! We then pull the slow LFO out and you can hear the cutoff bounce around to the S&H. Love it! Sorry about the weird glitch at the beginning."
Theremin Kaddish For Clara
YouTube via copperleaves
"This is a short kaddish for Clara Rockmore. I wrote it on March 9, 2009, which would have been Clara's 98th birthday. What she achieved during her lifetime continues to be a tremendous inspiration to many people who find they have an affinity with the theremin, the instrument to which she dedicated her life and career. It is because of Clara's efforts, and those of her dear friend the late Robert Moog, that the theremin exists today and is more popular than it has ever been.
I wrote this as a vocal improvisation which I played and sang at the keyboard. I then took the vocal out and replaced it with the theremin which you hear on this video.
The instrument I am playing is the 1929 RCA theremin that once belonged to thereminist Dr. Samuel Hoffman. If you would like to hear this piece without the YouTube audio distortion, you can find it at:

Theremin Gymnopedie
"The GYMNOPEDIE #1 by French composer Erik Satie (1866 - 1925) transcribed for theremin and piano."

Chris Muir Pendulum/Ratchet Module 077
via eardrill modules where you will find more info.
"I always though that my Buchla system would benefit from a dedicated module to generate a bunch of correlated pulses. Sure, you can use sequencers and function generators for this sort of thing, but having a clock source generating a wide variety of pulses of different flavors was very appealing to me, so to that end, I came up with the Pendulum/Ratchet."
Update via wavedeform in the comments: "Just a note to say that this run is moving forward. I'm taking deposits until 6/15/09, after which I'll order board sets and panels.

VIRTUALITY Video: Part 3 Inside the Computer
YouTube via interstellarcrew. Part 1 here, Part 2 here.
"The third installment of the Virtuality podcasts explores the possibility of making videos using the album as underscore. Interviewed guests include Patrick Moraz, Steve Porcaro, Ari Posner, Michelle Moog-Koussa, and (SL) Benton Wunderlich as well as producers, engineers and musicians from "Virtuality." The podcast series was directed and edited by Saul Pincus and Mark Dwyer with contributions from cinematographers and journalists all over the world. Special thanks to the crew at Full Sail University, as well as the Bob Moog Foundation and the offices of Steve Porcaro, Patrick Moraz, Bhatia Music, Splice Heist and Second Life. Charles & Jim on Vintage Synths - Explorer Part One
YouTube via oneamongmany10
"Oberheim Matrix 12 and Sequential Circuits T8 vintage analog synthesizers. We were messing around, trying to come up with some compositions that we could pair up on, in real time, ala late-70s early-80s Tangerine Dream or Steve Roach. The sound is coming through a couple of Martin Logans. We should get better over time as we get the hang of real-time composition on these instruments. But they are fun to play!"
