Electroplankton Trapy

via Nintendo

"Trace lines through the water. The plankton swim along the lines to create mysterious music.

Trapy plankton make sounds as they swim over graceful lines made up of linked triangles. The creatures follow the lines you trace along the water. There are six types of Trapy in all, each with a unique color and sound. All Trapy plankton produce different tones depending on the direction they swim. They produce the lowest-pitched sounds when they swim to the right and produce higher-pitched sounds as their path veers to the left."

via Andrew who notes: "Nintendo have just made Electroplankton available for download in the DSi Ware store. It's kind of wacky, though: They're only offering 5 of the plankton, and you have to buy each separately (for 200 points - or $2.00 each). I still have my original cartridge, but a downloadable version is appealing!"

That is a bit odd. Note you can still find the original on Ebay. Click here for a search on Electroplankton posts including video.

Roland MC-202 Semi Modular Mod

YouTube via phono1337
"A quick demonstration drone from my latest project. A semi modular modification for my Roland MC-202. The mod includes CV inputs for pitch/gate (bypassing the internal sequencer) VCF frequency and pulsewidth. CV outputs for LFO sine, LFO triangle and adsr ENV. Raw oscillator outputs for Square, Saw, Triangle, Sub mix (whatever the sub switch is set to) and all three Sub types. Audio input to VCF and VCA.

The drone patch is made by outputting the raw square and saw into a Doepfer A-106-1 Extreme filter, cv and gate outs from the MC-202 also trigger an A-111-5 Mini Synth module (A-100 Module version of Doepfers new desktop synth Dark Energy). Two LFO's (one inverted) are modulating the A-106-1 .The MC-202 LFO is modulating pulsewidth on the A-111-5. The A-106-1 outputs to the MC-202 VCF input, whch then goes into a stereo delay. I think thats all..i may have missed something ;-)

If you are interested in me fitting this mod to your MC-202, drop me a line on paul@analogsweden.com"

Modified Roland MC-202

"Another quick demo of my modifed MC-202, here i just enter a pattern and bulld the patch from scratch. Also using my Doepfer A-100 system and my highly modifed TR-606. The Camera shots could have been better :-P"

Interval Expansion

YouTube via Photosounder
"http://photosounder.com
Detailed explanation : http://photosounder.com/blog/2009/11/...

This video demonstrates interval expansion, an effect that consists in expanding the spacing in pitch between notes so that each interval doubles. Therefore, two notes one semitone apart become two semitones apart, which creates a melody that sounds different from the original melody. This is done here by setting analysis parameters so that only about 5 octaves of the original sound are analysed, then the frequency settings are changed so that these 5 octaves are stretched in pitch across 10 octaves.

Original sample : Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings"
