Steelphon S900 synthesizer
YouTube via JackOasys | August 10, 2010
"A look inside - Uno sguardo dentro -
Googlish:
"A Look Inside - A look inside -
Made in Italy in the seventies, this rare synth was among the first to introduce the new machines monophonic preset small (3 octaves). I hope the video will serve to appreciate the features of construction and assembly that have made "great" many synthesizers of the era. Also in Italy.
Steelphon The video was filmed before the restoration
Today they are unavailable. The value ranges between 1500 and 2300 euro, but they may have even higher prices based on operating conditions and circumstances."

"Drum machine in 1982, produced in Japan by Sequential Circuits Inc (Dave Smith) - Demo audio and a look inside ...
Among the features most appreciated at the time, the possibility of tuning and volume control for each instrument (programmable in realtime or step for each measure). In addition, the swing function and the function gave emphasis to the tracks the chance to "humanize" the dynamics of each individual sound. Finally, an ideal studio for his six separate outputs, which allowed the external process and individual groups of sounds. A drum machine that still deserves attention.

So Thanks to Matrix for posting that link and Thanks to Scott for his contribution. Here it is, with my vintage Grado RS-1 headphones.

Yamaha EX5 - battery replacement & short demo
YouTube via JackOasys | October 15, 2010
Jackoasys (2010)"
Googlish:
"The manual EX5 there is no explanation of how and where change is allocated to the backup battery (type CR2032). The operation is really simple, just enter the compartment just beneath the instrument. But perhaps the Yamaha could also think of a better place to place the backup battery ... Bonus: a quick overview on the sounds, choosing at random ... Greetings to all holders of the EX5! Jackoasys (2010)"
Korg DSS1: 36 sounds demo
YouTube via JackOasys | October 18, 2010
"Vintage series: DSS1. Canali midi IN-OUT-THRU. Altre specifiche tecniche sono facilmente consultabili in rete presso i siti specializzati in synth vintage."
Googlish:
"Vintage series: DSS1. A synth / sampler of 1986 in some respects more interesting. The major limitation is the storage of sounds on floppy disks reduced: only two banks of 32 sounds each (up to 64 sounds to floppy). The special - besides its characteristic "sound pasta" - is unusual (at that time) the opportunity to draw the waveforms (waveforms) using two sliders, ppi to save and process them. Easy to use the sampler, which gave food for treatment of the sample, albeit with many limitations in the clean sound and editing. Notes of polyphony: 16 (8 voices, two oscillators per voice). Dynamic keyboard with aftertouch. Channels midi IN-OUT-THRU. Other technical specifications are readily available online at sites specializing in vintage synth."

Elektron Octatrack Update - Scenes and the Optical Crossfader
follow-up to this post"The optical crossfader
Ruggedness and durability is paramount in a live setting and the smooth action 45mm crossfader meets these criteria with ease. Due to it being optical it is very resilient to both dust and humidity and with a life time rated to more than 5 million operations it is definitely going to stand the test of time. The crossfader in conjunction with the Scene functionality makes live improvisation with the Octatrack easy and rewarding.
Scenes
A Scene is a set of parameter values. All parameters that can be parameter locked can also be assigned to a Scene. At all times 16 Scenes are instantly available and ready to be assigned to the two Scene slots of the crossfader. The Scene assigned to slot A comes into full effect when the crossfader is at its leftmost position and the Scene assigned to slot B comes into full effect when the crossfader is at its rightmost position. For all other crossfader positions interpolation between the Scene parameters will occur. Scenes can be both muted and assigned in real time.
Scenes controlled by the crossfader make it possible to add sudden bursts of effects to a sound, make smooth transitions between tracks, pitch one loop up while another loop is being pitched down or to completely and utterly change the sound of a whole pattern. The choice is yours.
Check back every week for more Octatrack goodness!"
