1979 Remco Sound FX Machine Synthesizer Toy

via this auction

"Remco 1979 Sound FX Machine with original box. Box isn't in great shape. Synth is super cool. The Remco Electronic Sound FX machine was based on the Texas Instruments SN76477 analog sound effects chip. This little late-1970s integrated circuit generated square and noise waves that could be modulated to create all manner of bleeps, bloops, buzzes and auditory insanity. It's perhaps most famous as the sound chip used in the arcade version of Space Invaders. This is an amazing little synth. Weighs about 1 lb. itself. Battery connections are in good shape, and the battery well is clean of corrosion. This will look great when you clean it up a little. It looks great now, and sounds it too - how often do these come available? To take it to another level, fit it with a quarter inch output. The small built in speaker is loud for a battery operated machine, but imagine it through real speakers and it basically can sound like an EMS Synthi - mean, angry and demanding attention."

Kronik Tonik - Rob Adlers - KORG Monotron

YouTube via radlers | January 23, 2011 |

"I picked up a Korg Monotron today, checked out some cool videos posted using this (not-so) toy synthesizer. I decided to use another approach for a video and used stills every 30 seconds while I worked. This piece, aside from the drum tracks, is done completely using the Monotron. My voice at the end is my iPod with a sample piped through the Monotron. Thanks for watching!"

ARP Pro-DGX what is wrong with it?

YouTube via AnalogAudio1 | January 23, 2011 |

"I got this ARP PRO-DGX in great shape, but sadly it is not working properly. I can get out 3 presets - the other are dead. The preset buttons behave strange. If you press certain presets, wrong lights go on (on wrong preset buttons). Repeat and aftertouch are not working too.

Portamento and cutoff slider are working. I checked the cables inside, everything looks okay inside but I'm not a technician. Maybe I should mention that it sat long time unused in a basement on the top of an organ (the organ was 100% working, but not the ARP).

If you know this problem, please let me know what it is / what it could be, I hope, it is just a little thing, that I can fix by myself.

Leave your comments if you have suggestions. Thanx!"
