Gakken SX-150 DIY Modular synth ( In progress )
Gakken SX-150 DIY Modular synth ( In progress )

"So I have been building my own analog synth out of 3 inexpensive Gakken SX-150 synths. Lots of bending involved. Here's what I have done so far: 500MM softpot added as a control strip for all 3 units. Each unit is tuned by replacing the 75k resistors with 10k potentiometers. The LFO is connected through patches in order to enable it to oscillate the filter. The resonance switch is also set to allow the resonance to self oscillate for a gritty distorted sound. Added 1/4 inch outs that allow each Gakken to be patched in discretely for left, right and left-right panning. Batteries replaced with 6v power supply and of course, I built a case that folds up and down like a Moog Model D. More to come, but I decided to put it through it's paces. In the video, I've added some delay to the unit, but it's pretty beefy on its own. In a world full of digital samplers and autotune, there's something very inspiring about the imperfect nature of analog voltage."
SynthroTek Sequencer added to my Gakken SX-150 DIY synth

"So I am just about finished with my DIY synth. I've always wanted an analog sequencer and I found a great DIY one from the folks at SynthroTek. This video shows the end result. More info on the project to be found here: http://bipolarization.com/wordpress/?p=100#more-100"

Yamaha CS01II Analog Synthesizer Demo
Yamaha CS01II Analog Synthesizer Demo by peahix
"Here's two versions of a little demo track made entirely with my trusty old Yamaha CS01II analog synth. The original is from 1986, played by hand and "multitracked" by dubbing back and forth on my Star Studio boombox [below]. I cleaned up the sound as best I could. I decided to do a remake to see how close i could get to the overall sound of the original. Same synth, but now with CV jacks installed and sequenced with Cubase."

"This configuration of a Buchla 200e 12-space system with 222-223e Multidimensional Kinesthetic Input Port was suggested to me by Giorgio Sancrsitoforo last month. Thanks Giorgio--a brilliant design. Here is a little (low rez) video of scrolling through 9 freshly-made patches. Enjoy!

ARP PRO/DGX ANALOG SYNTHESIZER
"The Pro/DGX is a thirty preset monophonic analog synthesizer based on the ARP Pro-Soloist. The main difference is that the Pro/DGX had electronic switching (touch buttons) between its preset sounds whereas the older Pro-Soloist had circuit-based switching (rocker switches). It has 30 preset sounds to choose from, including Flute, Bassoon, Brass, Fuzz Guitar etc. Other features included pitch, portamento, vibrato, growl and wow effects. The keyboard has 37 keys with after-touch sensitivity for volume, brilliance, vibrato, wow, growl, and even bend effects. Filter, envelope and LFO controls allow some tweaking of the preset sounds.
“The new Pro has push button digital switching (DGX) that lets you change sounds as fast as you can play the keyboard. Each preset voice has its own LED status light to let you know where you’re at. In addition to the 30 preset sounds on the PRO/DGX, the touch sensor controls to the left of the keyboard let you add musical expression and expand your sound range. Simply by adding extra pressure to the keys, you have total control over brilliance, wow, growl, vibrato, and other musical effects. A portamento footswitch lets you add synthesizer glide without using your hands.”
