Octatrack Custom Multiband Compressor

"Although it doesn't directly support it, the Octatrack can be set up to operate as a multiband compressor. Here's an acoustic drum sample loop (from the Elektron presets) on Track 1. As it stands, it has a raw feeling. After multiband compressing it sounds more polished. The prominent snare is tucked back with a bit of squashing and the kick has more oomph. You can then sample this version and have two versions at your disposal. Run one version during the intro+break and the other while the vocal is going. Or switch them in and out to make subtle variations in the groove. For comparison purposes, the track levels are set so that the overall loudness of both versions is about the same. HD available."
