Roland SH 2 Analogue Synthesizer

via this auction
"The SH-2 is a compact, dual-oscillator synthesizer - with fantastic build quality and with features that in its day (1978) allowed it to surpass the capabilities of many larger, more expensive synthesizers.

Here's a great demo showing off the talents of the SH2:

Oscillators:
The VCO section (2 oscillators) feature multiple waveforms, including: sine, sawtooth, noise square waves and a variable pulse-width (PWM) with both LFO and envelope modulation options. Each oscillator features a 5-octave range and, whilst sharing a master tuning control, VCO2 can be detuned from VCO1 which just massively thickens up the sound.

A square wave Sub-Oscillator produces a tone one octave below VCO1, putting three thick analog oscillators through the internal audio mixer.

Both the VCOs and the Sub-Oscillator can be modulated by Autobend, the LFO which features square, delayed sine wave and 'random' (S&H) waves and of course, manual pitchbend. On the subject of pitchbend, the effect of the pitchbend lever can be switched off on VCO1 and therefore bend only VCO2. Additionally, the effective range of the pitchbend is totally adjustable. this means you can set the pitchbend range to a fifth, and detune only one oscillator.

Filter:
The VCF section of the SH-2 is a 24 dB/octave Low Pass Filter with adjustable resonance, which can be kicked into self-oscillation. The VCF section features include positive and inverted envelope, an envelope follower for the external audio input, three LFO modulation options, adjustable keyboard tracking and of course, fully variable control via the bender section.

VCA:
The VCA section controls the volume via the envelope generator, directly from the keyboard gate signal, or can be left fully open via a 'hold' switch. The ADSR envelope can be triggered by the keyboard, gate signal, both, or the LFO.

LFO:
The LFO offers sine waves with or without delay (great for delayed vibrato on lead lines and string patches), square waves, sample and hold for randomness and a separate non-delayed sine wave for the pulse-width modulation. The LFO speed is of course, fully adjustable."

via NOISEBUG Reverb

"The module format follows industry standard (synthesizers.com/ Moog/ Curetronic/ Mos-Lab etc.)
Module Size: 2 unit space
Quad Switch Matrix Router is a passive module, where 2 x 4 output jacks (“destinations“) can be routed in pairs to 2 x 4 signal inputs (“sources“) using four 6-way rotary switches with two “off“-positions. This simple device is intended as a companion module to the M552, but suitable for a multitude of applications, where audio- and control-signals have to be routed fast and with immediate visual feedback. Use your imagination."

via NOISEBUG Reverb

"Module Size: 4 unit space

Manufacturer Description:
Eight step/four row Trigger Sequencer

with built-in clock-oscillator. The 32 switches (with associated LEDs) have three positions each: gate-on, gate-off and reset.

Switch-on time (adjustable width of the gate pulse) is independently variable for each of the four busses.

Two buttons to shift and reset the trigger position manually (all four rows); two buttons with associated trigger inputs to start and stop the internal oscillator. One input to reset the sequencer to position 1 via trigger pulse. Four independent trigger inputs, one for each bus.

The jacks are „switched“, so that, if e. g. only input 1 is used, inputs 2/3/4 are affected as well. If none of the sockets is used, the built-in clock oscillator is active. Four trigger/gate-outputs for the four rows of switches. "

Mike McKnight's Moog Taurus 2 II with Synthwood Panels for Auction

via this auction

"Moog Taurus II 343 A and 343 B bass pedals and synth. The synth engine part of this is basically a Moog Rogue... The panels on the synth portion (top) are from Synthwood and are curly maple, and the wood panels on the pedal portion are the originals... I am a respected musician, programmer and have written for Keyboard Magazine. More about that here."

Sequential Circuits MAX Synthesizer

Sequential Circuits (SCI) MAX, analog synthesizer, similar to Sixtrak or Multitrak synth.

"I'm just demonstrating this highly underrated analogue synth. This is a video I started shooting over a year prior to uploading it but didn't get to complete till now. I made a web page on my site for it: http://gcmstudio.com/max/max.html. Pictures at the beginning are from when I serviced it after just buying it, though some of the pics are new. I'm amazed at the quality of detail in the build for what was an "inexpensive" synth at the time. You see the labeling & a totally valid musical motif written on a part of the keyboard that nobody was meant to see aside from those who assembled it. Any way, it's a great little instrument with six voices, one oscillator + noise per voice, ADSR volume and envelopes, triangle wave, sawtooth, square wave with Pulse-Width Modulation, four-pole filters with feedback, capable of some really strong resonance. It's one of the first MIDI capable synths able to send and receive on any channel and the companion computer software is what really makes this guy shine. It was actually marketed as a computer peripheral for home recording in 1984. No doubt, it was way ahead of its time."

"This is the not-well-known, but highly underrated Sequential Circuits Inc. (SCI) MAX, also known as the CM620B. This guy first hit the market in 1984 and was one of the first MIDI keyboards to be able to send & receive information on all MIDI channels. It has six voices, single oscillator + optional white noise per channel, capable of triangle, sawtooth and square (pulse) waves with Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) using the Curtis SENTE CEM3394 synth chips with internal ADSR volume envelope filters. Each voice also has its own ADSR 4-pole voltage controlled filters, capable of extremely high resonance when desired. There's a sequencer that can store two banks of up to 500 notes each. It has 80 factory preset voices such as organs, strings, woodwinds and classic synths, as well as 20 user voices, which reset when power cycled. Although control from the keyboard itself is rather limited, pitch bend and mod functions are available using an external controller such as another keyboard or MIDI sequencer. When hooked to a proper MIDI controller, computer or even it's big brother, the Sixtrak, worlds of new options appear, allowing the user to create entirely new sounds from scratch. Although it's a mono, polyphonic synth, there's two RCA outputs and a stereo headphone output (which I use use to plug into an amp). Check out this video for real examples on some of this synth's capabilities.

Software for controlling the MAX using an excellent GUI is available here. http://www.gcmstudio.com/max/synlib6trak.zip
That's a lot more than what was available to me when I first discovered the MAX over 20 years ago.

This is the B-revision of the MAX, which as far as I can tell, simply mutes the output automatically when self-tuning..."
