"ixi lang take on Steve Reich's Piano Phase"
via
ixi audio: "The ixi lang is a musical system aiming to make live coding available and understandable to all. Live coding represents the latest, and cutting-edge, development in computer music. Conferences, journals and festivals have picked up on this new style of musical performance and dedicated space for it (e.g., International Computer Music Conference, New Interfaces for Musical Expression, Computer Music Journal, etc.). A specific website and mailing list exists here:
http://www.toplap.org
The core idea in ixi lang is to represent events in a spatial layout, thus merging musical code and musical scores in a real-time musical improvisation context. Kids should be able to use the system and grandparents should understand it. The ixi lang can be
downloaded here (free and open source), and a paper presented at International Computer Music Conference is here [
PDF].
Perhaps a good way to understand the system is to look at
some videos here, some by Julio d'Escrivan
here, and the following two videos.
How to hook up with Ableton Live using ixi lang as a master MIDI clock:

"first live coding steps using IXI lang to drive Ableton LIVE so you can sync to loops... essentially just wanted to show that it is possible and easy, then the challenge is trying to modify your patterns so they will groove with the loops... this is not that easy (hehe) but I thought I'd just mess about a bit to encourage myself and others to do the same. Thank you Thor!"
