Midi to Trigger Interface From Obsoletetechnology

"Low cost, low part count Midi to Trigger interface with 10 Outputs.

This Midi to Trigger interface generates a TTL (5V) trigger signal per note over a range of ten notes. It can be used for example as a midi interface for vintage drum-expanders or as a multiple-trigger generator for a modular synthesizer. I developed this module in order to modify my Tama TS305."

"Here's a little project that I am offering the PCB for, inspired by and approved for (but not officially endorsed) this small run by legendary synthesizer designer Don Buchla himself. To buy a PCB, simply hit the PayPal button to the left. PCB's are only $15 each, with shipping included to anywhere on the globe. Boards are ROHS approved "lead free" materials and have a silver finish to them instead of lead. The board size is 3.8 x 2.5 inches and they should fit most cabinets. RLPG's are compatible with nearly all modular formats, but work particularly well with all the popular 3U and 5U high modules like those from Synthtech, Blacet, Doepfer, Synthesizers.com and all of the modern Euro format makers out there..."

Orders are being taken until Jan 15th. Boards are expected to go out 15 days after that. Click through above for more info.

Teenage Engineering OP-1 Tape Project Overview

YouTube Uploaded by djthomaswhite on Jan 7, 2012

"16 mins of performance from 6 minutes of tape, and still just scratching the surface of using the OP-1 live. This clip shows how you can use the built-in 4-track tape recorder to store multiple projects. The entire 6 minutes length of the tape is used and all 4 tracks are featured. In this demo I wrote 4 different songs parts and then recorded some vocals about wanting to be a "Teenage Engineer." Those vocals are triggered live over the top of the 4 tracks in the same way you can play an internal synthesizer or drums over the full 4-track recorder.

Sections:
Start - House Track
6min - Downtempo Track
9min - Drum & Bass Track
11.5min - Underground House Track

You can see the variety and scope of creating non-IDM dance music with the OP-1. The internal pattern and endless sequencers were used heavily in the production of these tracks. You will hear the quirks and squeaks that give this instrument a character all its own. These songs were written on my couch, in my car on lunch break, at work in my cubicle and sitting on the floor... all thanks to the power and portability of the Teenage Engineering OP-1."
