"The INM Is a dual joystick controlled semi modular analog 'noise' synth capable of much more than noise. It features two filters, two vca's, an oscillator and a noise source which is used to modulate the oscillator. The noise source is switchable so an external signal can be the modulator. On the back are 1/4" inputs for adding external voltages to the filters, vca's, etc. from your modular. There are 23 knobs to twist which shape, sculpt and otherwise mangle the sound. Below my description is an excerpt from the Flight of Harmony website, where you can read much more about this wonderful device. These sell new for $666.00 USD. Get a used one for much much less..."

"Up for bids is a Modular MOOG Voltage Controlled Amplifier #902. As you can see from my picture, the yellow tag on the back is still very clear and reads Serial number P 9356. This module was assembled Jan 13, 1977, and was tested Jan 18, 1977.

As you must know, these modules are kind of scarce, and are therefore considered highly collectible and desirable. You can see that the circuit board and electronics are in great shape!! Overall the module is in excellent condition.

This module boosts your signal from the oscillator, and you can modify it with control patchcords. All of the printing on the faceplate is clearly readable, and not faded at all..."

DX5 testing a Roland Promars

YouTube Published on Sep 10, 2012 by DX5

"** Demo video ** (not cover, new covers are coming really soon).
Testing my Roland Mrs2 PROMARS as soon as it arrived in the studio. It is basically a monophonic Jupiter 4 with two twin vco's and a sub oscillator.

Featuring:
Promars Layout overview.
"Love in Itself", "Television Set", and "Photographic" riffs.
Some weird noises

PS: Apologies for the camera angle. Not the best (but for watching my elbow)"

Additional videos below.

"DR-OM is a virtual synthesizer that simulates the hackable yard sale treasure of the same name. Dozens of DR-OM units have been adapted from a rare, limited science lab function generator that started turning up in flea markets in the 70s.

DIY synth enthusiasts discovered the device was easily hackable, and closely-guarded photocopies of modding schematics have been handed around the community for years. The directions show how to rewire the generator into a nice little synth with two mixable Low Frequency Oscillators and a Voltage-Controlled Filter.

This app is a complete and playable simulation of three different versions of DR-OM boxen that were discovered at a yard sale near Quonset Point along with a folder of photocopied schematics. Each DR-OM unit has its own characteristic sound because of degrading components or bad wiring by the owner. The Speed dial is the most finicky part of the assembly; depending on the box, the dial can cause tuning drifts, random events and gnarly effects.

In the seventies, the noise generator was nicknamed "Doctor Om" for the meditation-friendly tones it generates. Others believe the name is an acronym for Drone Ready Oscillator Module or Dual Recirculating Oscillator Module, but no one knows for certain where the name comes from originally.

Note: You'll probably want to use more than 2 fingers with DR-OM, so try turning off Multitasking Gestures in the General Settings on your iPad. This is a universal app for iPhone 4+ and the iPad. It is produced by the Fluxama Group, purveyors of fine simulated synths like Noisemusick. Sound and video samples may be found on the support web site."

The Schmidt Uber Analog Synthesizer Keyboard is Going Into Production

via John Bowen on
The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge:

"Just heard that the Schmidt is going to be manufactured. EMC are taking deposit to the tune of 9,000 euros, representing 50% of the total price (inc German VAT), i.e. 18,000 euros to pay for a first batch of 25 units."

See the Schmidt label below for more including some video and pics I took at Winter NAMM this year.

Update via François Rossi on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge: "The annoucement was made by Stefan Hund (EMC boss) to a select few on 6 September. We know the cost, 18.000 inc German VAT, the deposit required, i.e. 50%, and the fact that a first batch of 25 units will be made. That's it for now, it's not even been announced on EMC's website yet."
