"For your consideration is this vintage 1977 ARP 2600 series “2601″ analog synthesizer and matching “3620″ keyboard. This particular set, both with matching serial numbers (0711), is in near mint, all original, impeccably serviced, condition and includes the original case lids, the original owner’s manual, the controller owner's manual, the original patch book, and original patch cables. This unit was purchased directly from synth tech extraordinaire Will Alexander, and though it was in extremely excellent shape when initially serviced, it was transformed into the absolute best functioning ARP 2600 possible: every single mechanical component was cleaned, all rubber bushings were replaced, and everything was precisely calibrated. For those who have been waiting for the definitive premium example, well, look no further, this is the one, and we have decided to sell it to the highest bidder with No Reserve, Free USA shipping, and discounted Worldwide delivery, so place a bid, because finding a comparable keyboard will be near impossible!

Will Alexander, personal synth tech for Keith Emerson/ELP, Herbie Hancock, and The Rolling Stones, to name just a handful, in addition to being an important figure at Oberheim, took great care in restoring what little needed to be addressed to beyond factory specifications, resulting in the best performing, most consistent ARP 2600 we've had the pleasure of offering.The only mod, which we considered highly thoughtful, was the replacement of the traditional oval power cable receptacle with a standard IEC female jack. Though no pictured, an IEC cable is included.

This extremely well-preserved piece presents in near immaculate condition, and aside from one minor set of snags (having since been secured by Will) on the exterior of the synth lid, it would otherwise be considered undeniably mint. Save for such, this is an incredibly clean synth, with no evidence of mis-treatment, improper storage, or even expected wear.

The ARP 2600 is considered the absolute benchmark in compact analog semi-modular synthesis. Extremely versatile, and capable of producing a seemingly indefinite amount of both classic and modern synth sounds, the 2600 has become the standard by which other synths are measured.

Played, and made famous, by a veritable who’s who of modern music, the ARP 2600 can be heard on albums by: John Lennon, Stevie Wonder, Joy Division, Kraftwerk, Frank Zappa, Herbie Hancock, Steve Miller, The Beastie Boys, Cat Stevens, The Who, Depeche Mode, U2, and an ever-expansive alumnus of artists whom have featured this amazing synth in their music.

This last version of the 2600 is rare, and while some prefer the sound of the early examples, this final generation was result of stabilizing some of the more inconsistent modules. This also makes it practical for studio use, and plug-in-and-play applications."

Alex Gibson’s WAVE-PD1, aka WavePad, is a basic synth toy that sounds a bit like a theremin, built with HTML 5 audio.

WavePad has a simple touchpad UI and generates sound based on the wa
veform and filter settings that you can select. It can also be affected using delay and feedback settings.

While it’s unsophisticated as a synth, it’s built with HTML and delivered via the Web, so it should theoretically be cross-platform. At this time, only about 25% of the smartphones in use support HTML5 audio.

Does this work with yours?"

This worked for me on Safari, but not Firefox. The resolution is a bit large for a phone but it does work.

Serge VCS as a Subharmonic Generator

"Here is a quick improv of a sketch I have been working on. This will eventually get multi-tracked and re-edited, but for now I have just made a quick live recording.

The main reason I wanted to upload this is to show how the Serge VCS can be used as a Subharmonic Generator.

I have two main sequences running from Ableton. The bass line and the arpeggio melody. The VCS is being driven by the VCO providing the melody line. All percussive elements are being produced by my "Terminal Glitch 3" Reaktor ensemble.

A pulse wave is taken from the VCO and patched into the Trigger input (not the audio in) and the AC output is sent to the mixer. Adjusting the Rise and Fall times will vary the divison of the sub-harmonic.

I am then modulating the Rise and Fall times with an LFO and the arpeggio's gate signal, both are being controlled by the Joystick via two VCA's. The X axis is controlling the LFO and the Y axis the gate signal.

A big thanks to Ken Stone for making these Serge modules available. I am still amazed by all the different functions the Serge VCS is capable of."
