Korg Lambda ES50 Vintage Analogue String Synthesizer

"The Lambda ES50 is a vintage (1979 / 1980) poly-ensemble type synthesizer with slightly editable preset orchestral sounds. It is divided into two sections: The Percussion set includes preset pianos, clavis and harmonics; The Ensemble section has presets for brass, strings, organ and choruses. Filter and envelope controls affect the different instruments individually. The Lambda has 96 discrete envelopes and VCAs - two for each key - a very unusual design. There are also vibrato and chorus effects.

The Percussion group and Ensemble group each have their own separate volume contols and with the MS -01 controller foot pedal (also included), these can be blended during play as required. A joystick is proveded left of the keyboard for simultaneous control of pitch bends and chorus phase speed.

The String sounds are the nicest sounds this synth can create. With three oscillators you can vary and detune them enough to get a nice layered analog string. The piano sounds on their own are limited but they do add 'attack' to the blend of sounds as required. The Lambda is cased in a lovely polished wood that gives it that authentically vintage status. I have built a flight case (included) which has kept the original woodwork in very good condition except for two small chips on the front edge.

- Flight case included

- MS - 01 Expression pedal pedal included with its original manual

- Original sustain pedal included (it's working although this has had some DIY repairs over the years)

- Stereo and mono audio outputs with headphone socket

- On-board Tremolo and Vibrato effects

- The woodwork is original and in good condition except for two small chips on the front edge."

RIP Pete Namlook

Ambient and electronic music producer, composer and founder of the German record label, FAX +49-69/450464 has passed away at the age of 52.  Below you'll find a track he composed with Ludwig Rehberg (E.M.S.) and an interview.  He worked with a Moog modular, pictured, and of course plenty of other synths.  Update: In 2008 he ordered two custom "Blue Meanie" MacBeth M5Ns. New image of Pete Namlook below.

via Wikipedia "Pete Namlook (born 1960 as Peter Kuhlmann [ˈkuːlmaːn] [Namlook is Kuhlmann in reverse] in Frankfurt, Germany, died on November 8th 2012[1]) was an ambient and electronic-music producer and composer. In 1992, he founded the German record label FAX +49-69/450464, which he oversaw. Inspired by the music of Eberhard Weber, Miles Davis, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chopin, Wendy Carlos, Tangerine Dream and Pink Floyd, he also composes his own albums."
