Serge Modular Sounds 21

"Some fun with all 3 wave multiplier sections:
- top section used as VCA for control voltage (inputs: SSG top and TGO right sections)
- mid and lower sections treat audio with voltage control from top section and VCFilter output (using trigger in from TGO right section)
- some voltage controled cross-fading
2 version of the same patch."

"This pro one is in excellent cosmetic condition and perfect working condition. I bought it from Switched On in Austin Texas last year and they completely refurbished and cleaned it. It is the j-wire model and has new bushings. Everything works perfectly and there isn't and scratchiness on any of the knobs..."

The software emulations that came with the Creamware PULSAR II made their way into the stand alone Creamware ASB Pro-12, Prodessy, Minimax which then made their way to the Use Audio Plugiator.  John Bowen of Sequential Circuits fame and the John Bowen Solaris worked closely with Creamware on the models. The PULSAR II like the KORG OASYS PCI recently listed here, are interesting and significant parts of synth history.

"Pulsar II PCI system integrates mixing, effects, synthesis, sampling and unlimited signal routing into a single ultra powerful and widley-compatible realtime DSP environment.

"FEATURES ON THE HISTORY OF THE SYNTH PART 1 & GIORGIO MORODER."

Love that image of the Minimoog and KORG Prophecy melding together. The KORG Prophecy in many ways was the Minimoog of the 90s. It introduced a brand new technology to synthesis with physical and analog modeling and it was monophonic. Technically the first virtual analog synth was Clavia's Nord Lead and the first synth with physical modeling was Yamaha's VL1. The Prophecy followed each fairly closely. I remember, when it came out, people were impressed and saw it as a modern day Minimoog.  The melding in this image captures that.  At the time it was symbolic of where synthesis started and where it brought us.  The Z1 followed the Prophecy adding polyphony, but to my ears the Prophecy stands out as bolder monophonic lead and bass synth.  The Z1 excels at pads, strings and certain physical modeled sounds.
