"Audible Genius Debuts Syntorial - Interactive Synthesizer Training Software

New York, NY (August 23, 2013) — Audible Genius proudly announces the debut of Syntorial, synthesizer training software designed to teach musicians how to program synths and design sound. Pairing video demonstrations with interactive challenges, Syntorial builds the user's ability to program patches by ear. The built-in synthesizer includes 64 common synth parameters that are gradually introduced, one-by-one, to create a challenging yet enjoyable learning experience from start to finish.

Available for download on August 27th, Syntorial is the creation of Joe Hanley, a synth-loving musician determined to build a tutorial that would eliminate all of the science-speak and instead teach users the way in which each control affects sound—information they can immediately apply to real-life sound design situations. “In my early efforts to become a better synth programmer, I read a lot of books and articles and watched a lot of videos,” says Hanley. “And while I felt more knowledgeable, I was still unable to translate the sounds I was hearing into actual synth patches. Syntorial is intended to bridge that gap.”

Gone are the days of relying on presets. Syntorial advances the skill set of its users by teaching them to program the sounds they hear and gain a deep and intuitive understanding of the most common synth parameters, all at their own pace.

Syntorial features include:

• 129 Interactive Challenges
• 147 Videos
• 706 Patches
• 64 Synth Parameters
• 39 Quizzes
• 33 "On Your Own" Tasks

Syntorial is available for immediate download on Tuesday, August 27th at 10 a.m. EST, and is compatible with Mac (Intel, 10.6 or later) or Windows (8, 7, Vista). Regularly priced at $129.99, Audible Genius is running an introductory sale price of $99.99 through September 6th.

Sine Waves Orchestra - Do Min from Roberto Attanasio on Vimeo.

"Sine Waves Orchestra is a generative software made entirely with Max/MSP 6 that creates ambient and relax music only with sinusoids. It has five voices, with a probabilistic algorithm to select the note in a selected scale. There is also and ADSR to control the envelope of sinusoids, to create different improvisations, like for example percussive or ambient compositions. This is a demonstration in Do Min.
Relax and Enjoy :)"

"Here is a tune I made entirely of sounds from the Yamaha DX-21, RX-11, and FB-01 machines, with a classic detroit techno vibe. To keep with the period sound, I used a Realistic Reverb unit as well as a Shure EQ from the early 80's. Sounds used include:
DX-21:
FM Square
5th String
custom Organ
custom string/pad
pink noise
RX-11 drum sounds
FB-01:
Electric Drum (sub kick)
Solid Bass (aka Lately Bass)"
