"Breaking up is hard to do" - on Elka organs

Published on Dec 23, 2013 organfairy·402 videos

"This time I'm getting slightly archeologic: Not only is the melody I am playing quite old. Also the Elka organ and drum machine is almost as old as I am. The drum machine is salvaged from an old organ and made into a stand-alone unit.

'Breaking up is hard to do' was a big hit for Neil Sedaka but it has been recorded by many artists over the years including Carpenters and Svenne & Lotta (the one I remember most)."

Cirklon: some inter-track events and a spot of knob masking (fnar fnar)

Published on Dec 23, 2013 WilyEPeyote·22 videos

"This person is drunk. Mask or unmask, always a tough one. Best to turn knobs and see what happens. Decided accumulators were a bit obvious (and the tutorial went into a tailspin) so went for showing inter-track events instead. Stupidly, I failed to plan in advance, which would have involved making the two sequences noticeably different. Ah well.

Oh and I totally failed to explain the other inter-track events, of which there are many. However, once you start with notes the rest, well, keep turning and you'll find them. Same principles, self-explanatory. Remember stuff is processed in order. Therefore, if I suspect I might later wish to conditionally mask an event, I place that event on the second aux at the start,"

"Using fork, latch, and inverter modules, you can chain two micro sequencers together to create an 8-step sequence. There is a third sequencer that is creating a drum beat."

climb mt nitaka [live modular set]

"Live set recorded on December 7th 2013. No editing or overdubbing, all sounds live from the lunchbox modular consisting of DPO, Optomix, 2 Functions and several helper tiles. Sequencing provided by Little Midi Machine from iPad, effects from Boss DD5 and Akai Headrush. Live looped vocals and field recordings involved as well.

This was a practice for a show later that night at the Warp Zone here in Peoria, IL . Feel free to download the set and enjoy on your commute, while surfing the web etc. best with headphones or speakers, as dictated by the nature of sine wave bass."
