Ultra rare HILLWOOD SY-1800 analog synthesizer 1977- by Darth NoiseLab

Published on Jan 5, 2014 NoiselabCH·5 videos

"No effects or anything, just pure analog sound (however as usual recorded with an IPhone only) ! 1ST VID EVER ABOUT THE HILLWOOD SY-1800 on YOUTUBE !

Hillwood SY-1800 built from 1977-79, is a curious preset Synthesizer made in Japan similar to the Roland SH-2000, ARP soloist and ELKA Soloist. Manufacturer Hillwood had a full range offer typical at the time:

- Combo Organs and keyboards
- Synthesizer like the SY-1800 and more known Hillwood Comet
- Electric pianos
- Guitar amp
- two drum machines
- rotary speaker simulator
- and even a spinett-organ
(found in a catalog fromm 1977)

I never had or know a synthesizer with practically no information on the net like the SY-1800. Presets are mostly worthless like all preset Synths of the time. However these synthesizer have some modulations to explore and the SY-1800 has some PWM, CHORUS, possibly BP-Filter sounds worth to take a closer look. Even with a weak filter I think the HILLWOOD SY-1800 is an inspiring little toy.

Any information about HILLWOOD is apreciated...

Be the analog synthforce with you...

nw2s::b Turing Machine Adaptation

Published on Jan 5, 2014 Scott Wilson·10 videos

"For full details on this patch, and to order a kit or fully-built module, please see http://nw2s.net

The Turing Machine is a randomizable bit shift register whose value is converted to CV. This is a software adaptation of the original eurorack module. It's not an exact copy, but operates on the same principle."

Roland SH 2

"This song is made completely with sounds from the Roland Sh-2 analog synthesizer.
Some reverb added but other than that there is no other fx or eq going on.
Multitracked in Cubase."

MicroBRUTE+Korg Volca Beats(Quick playabout)

Published on Jan 5, 2014 Metatron's Cube·36 videos

"Without a midi splitter I ended up using the MicroKORG as a way to sync the MicroBRUTE to the Korg Volca Beats. Messing around, twisting those knobs so you can hear it do it's thing. I need to order a splitter to use it with everything for a more proper jam. That should be soon-ish I hope. Enjoy the sounds!"

High Atop Lounge

"Make Noise Phonogene butchering a late night jazz radio station playing classics.

This is three tracks of the same patch with the modular synthesizer processing the AM radio.

The patch used the EOS output back into the record input of the Phonogene to resample. I used a Yusynth Random Gates module to randomly mix in new program sounds from the radio into the Phonogene. The coincidental timing of the record and mix SOS created continually changing loops.

The most fun I've had with a module in a long time."

Note: I created a new 5U label starting with this post. I should have done this a while ago but didn't as there were only a handful of 5U manufacturers compared to euro, and typically you knew what was in the system you were watching so you could check out the corresponding manufacturer channel.

Maiden Voyage Dr MONSTER 1

Published on Dec 9, 2013

"First test of the Dr Monster semimodular performance synthesizer I constructed using an old Peavey reverb chassis, 1 MFOS, 2 CGS and 4 Yusynth modules. Still gotta get the S&H and the EMS filter to work, but it's souding surprisingly nice for not having been callibrated or tuned yet.. Highlight to the Serge/CGS Dual Universal Slew Generator, it kicks major butt"
