a really superb sounding synth --- super fat and the varaible wavefrom selector is a great feature - you can get some really interesting timbres, for eg. a saw-are wave, something inbetween a 'saw' and a 'square' . Apparenlty all discrete circuits inside with a moog style ladder filter inside, sounds incredibly similar to my Roland System 100 - potentially fatter (no joke!) but much more limited. Limited in that it's a copy of the 303 so does 303 stuff -- the 303 apparently having similar filter to the system 100.

For this demo --- a short sequence of notes - a bit of logic's onboard delay and some live tweaking of the 383 knobs --- the sound - even on a one VCO oscillator synth much bigger in my opinion than the synth on a chip mopho for example."

"Up for auction is a Buchla 201e-24 cabinet with the following pre-BEMI modules: two 261e dual oscillators, a 259e Twisted Waveform Generator, two 281e quad envelopes, two 292e quad gates, a 266e Source of Uncertainty, 210e patching matrix, 225e MIDI/preset box, 256e non-linear CV processor, 296e Spectral Processor with red LED’s, 291e triple filter, 227e & 207e mixer/preamps, and two sequencers: the 250e and 251e (three if you count the sequencer in the 291e). The cabinet contains exactly enough room to add your own 222e or 223e keyboard and its corresponding control module. Also included are the sturdy white road case and a small black case with audio and CV cables, the power cord, a manual, some nostalgic module-specific firmware cards and the later USB global firmware update card."

via the seller: "This lovely and difficult to find synth is in full working order. I have had it thoroughly looked over by my tech, and he replaced all the op-amp chips (SAD1024A), CMOS chips in the vocoder section, one delay chip and cleaned all pots, bushings and sliders. It plays fantastic! It was painted black by the previous owner, so the faux wood is covered up, but it could be easily sanded down (I left it as is because it never bothered me). It has a power adapter for USA, to change power down from 117v to 100v. Original Japan version rare Mk 1 (only 2000 made)..."
