Simmons SDS 5 / SDSV DIY clone demo

"I have finished building yet another clone project.
It's a clone of the Simmons SDS-V

This time it's a little more DIY because I designed my own 19" rack mountable Frontpanel for the 6 modules and added a selfmade MIDI-Trigger converter that takes MIDI messages (in this Demo they came from Ableton live) and triggers the voices accordingly (sourcecode and schematics: https://github.com/oberling/AVRMIDI-T...).
The MIDI-Trigger converter also includes 16 flame variations that are selected by the velocity of the note.

Recording completely dry from the modules into the sound card. No additional processing. Prepare your speakers/ears for some nasty self oscillations here and there ;-)

This Clone itself already includes several more editable parameters than the original and I added the only roughly described LFO-Speed mod as well as the TB1/TB2 switch (Tom/Bass) for even more knobbing fun."

"These synths have to be one of the best looking synths ever, and they sound good also, with a lot of hands on control. I think the main complaint people had/have with the OB-12 was that it didn't sound like an original, analog Oberheim. I don't have experience with an original analog Oberheim but I think the OB-12 sounds great and is a lot of fun to play with. History seems to be treating this synthesizer kindly and the prices for them have been creeping up for years."

"If you are looking at this, you probably already know all about the MG-1. You will also notice that with the wood panels it is probably also one of the sexiest that you have ever seen!

This unit is in 100% working condition. Every key, knob, and switch is working. The black foam has been removed, and the sliding pots have been cleaned out as well.

This synth was recommend to me by Chris Walla from Death Cab for Cutie when I asked him how he got those nice vintage synth sounds on the Kintsugi album (specifically on the song Black Sun). This synth is amazing! If you like thick 3D Moog sounds, you will love this synth. The filters are definitely all Moog!"
