Dave Smith Instruments Artist Interview with Baseck
You can find the full interview on DSI's website here.
"Baseck is a Los Angeles-based experimental electronic musician. His roots run deep in L.A.’s underground rave scene since the early 90s. Baseck’s fascination with sound brought him to turntablism at an early age. His attraction to hands-on hardware, learned from scratching records, led to audio manipulation with small battery powered toys, drum machines, then modular synthesizers. His unique style and mastery of a wide range of music hardware segued into his involvement with music technology. Since 2013, Baseck has been working with synthesizer companies to design concepts to enhance user playability. Variatic Basicus, a Eurorack module created by Noise Engineering, was built for his live performance needs. DSI’s Tempest analog drum machine includes presets designed by Baseck. His style builds on past musical experiments, combining the 80’s drum machine sounds of Breakdance and Industrial, with a future approach to Drum & Bass and Braindance using both analog and digital hardware."

"In this video the Tsyklon Labs Chaos Divider is triggering the Metasonix D-1000 Vacuum Tube Drum Machine while in Chaos mode. Using the Chaos Divider in Frequency Divider mode really makes the D-1000 scream and drone."

Delia Derbyshire to Have Road Named After Her in Coventry
via BBC Local Live:
"The composer who helped craft the Doctor Who theme tune is set to be honoured by having a road named after her.
Delia Derbyshire, a music pioneer from Coventry, became the uncredited creator of the famous theme while working in the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
Her contribution to popular culture will be marked by Derbyshire Way in her native city.
Pete Chambers BEM, director of The Coventry Music Museum, was among those to campaign for the recognition. He said: 'Originally it was to be named Derbyshire Road, but I suggested 'Way' instead, so it gave a double meaning, as Delia was a genius and strong personality and really did do things in her own way.'"
How cool is that?

Novation Circuit: Creating Groovy Techno
Published on Nov 28, 2016 anode8
"In this video I quickly demonstrate how to create a basic Techno groove with a bit of a warehouse vibe using only the Novation Circuit. This is NOT a full fledged track, or an in depth tutorial on the capabilities of this machine, just a little run through of my daily use of the Circuit."

The King Of The World | Minilogue, Mother-32, JV-1080, Volca Sample
Published on Nov 23, 2016 Mark Aldred
"One Mother-32 is running a 16 note sequence through a Strymon TimeLine. The other is just a single note I'm transposing for the bass. The lead is the Minilogue plus a bell patch on the Roland JV-1080. The Minilogue midi out is running directly to the midi in of the JV-1080. I'm just turning down the volume of the Minilogue on the bridge. Single take. No dubbing or processing."

Modular Minutes: Doepfer A 101-3 Vactrol Phaser Percussive Delicacies
Published on Nov 27, 2016
"The A-101-3 Modular Vactrol Phaser has always left us puzzled, we heard so much good sweeps, yet onlin content was few and far between. So it was time to set one up in Analogue Zone's Budapest Showroom! For the first patch we were using it with some new/old Doepfer modules: the percussive oscillation is coming from the A-111-3 Micro Precision VCO and we added some BBD delayed audio of one of the phaser's stages output filtered by A-121-2, the eurorack version of the filter from Doepfer's desktop monosynth, the Dark Energy II. The A-101-3 is sweet and fat, and it just bends and swings even the simple waveforms in an endless fashion! You can easily turn a VCO into a conga or into some giant monster's vocalising... Follow your ears and patch the way you want it with the feedack inputs and phaser stage outputs!
