Serge Modular Synth Chaotic Ping Feedback #TTNM

Published on Feb 12, 2018 The Tuesday Night Machines

"This is a chaotic filter ping patch, based around the Infinite Melody module, which modulates everything and receives the whole system's audio output to create an unstable feedback loop. MORE INFO BELOW :)

Audio gear used:
Best of CGS Serge BOG + MARSH
... and some Final Cut Pro X Reverb

Patch Notes:
Phew ... well ... okay, let's try to write that down. The DUSGs and one NCO ping the filter, one Utility LFO plays a constant drone through a modulated Wave Folder. Everything is mixed and sent to the VCF. The LPF output is recorded and the BPF output is acting as noise source for the Infinite Melody, which modulates pretty much everything, including the NCOs pitch. The NCOs act as Clock and Advance trigger sources for the IM. Because the Infinity Melody shit registers need to be constantly filled sequentially using the Advance triggers, weird rhythms can happen when you play with the Clock and Advance speeds (here my NCO square outputs). The Feedback from the BPF output into the Infinite Melody's Noise input then creates chaotic patterns that can be somewhat stable but then break out at the tiniest nudge of a knob."

Man Teaches His Grandma How To Play Synthesizer

Published on Feb 13, 2018 DistractifyYT

"A great video has emerged from Australia of a grandma experiencing the thrill of playing a synthesizer for the first time.

The video, captured by a Queensland resident on Monday, shows the woman’s amazement as her grandson teachers her to create a wide range of audio effects on the instrument.

Starting off tentatively, she becomes progressively more engaged with the device, switching between the different modulation effects to create a modern techno sound."

Synthchaser #094 - Roland MC-8 MicroComposer Vintage Sequencer Repair

Published on Feb 13, 2018 Synth Chaser

"I couldn't pass up the opportunity to repair this rare and interesting early sequencer made by Roland. Very few of them were made and even fewer still exist today. But there's no service manual or schematics!

So we have a look around inside and see what makes it tick, and I show you an approach I use for tracking down problems I don't know I'm looking for. And after it's fixed we take a peek at it in action. It's hugely different from other sequencers of its time.

Parts, service and synthesizers available on my website."
