Elka Solist 505 Monophonic Synth SN 58119

Published on Dec 4, 2012 nuovafesta

"The Soloist 505 is a very simple monophonic synth. Its look reminds one of a Roland SH-1000, but with its controls on the front. The sound is very clear and clean like many Italian cousins (Siel). There is a preset section but the waveforms can also be modified in 'free' mode. Funny sounds, lysergic and ancestral. But the keyboard is good and there are some presets such as the sax, trombone, cosmic, flute e telstar which have some power worth exploring. It's cute and slightly rare. No MIDI or CV here."

"Great analog preset monosynth, unique sounding - one of a kind!
There are two Moog ladder filters in this thing, which makes it sound nice and fat.
Check out the video for a run through of the presets and filters, great for library / afro funk type sounds, real greasy!"

Note the video is from 2012.

Unique Synth T-Shirts by Re5etuk

You can find them at Re5etuk's Society6 store. You will find other non-synth designs there as well.

"They feature unique designs for classic synth and drum machines including sh101, mc202, tb303, Juno 106, tr808, tr909.

Each logo feature isometric lettering / numbers with a touch of colour and I’ll continue to add more designs and manufacturers over the coming weeks."

I like the matching color badges on them.

Some background on Re5etuk and his designs from the site: "Video game developer of almost 30 years , recently developed my passion for illustration based in London, working towards developing abstract illustrations within digital and 'real' mediums . My work focuses on hand created illustrations avoiding the use of 3d rendering packages as a way to differentiate the work undertaken in typical game development.

Details in the work is largely clean and precise for the majority of the process , towards the end i like to fracture it a little , add elements of optical illusions and twist elements to ensure it'd be difficult to recreate in typical 3d."

Tune-Yards - Look at Your Hands (Official Video) - Featuring the the DSI Tempest

Published on Oct 24, 2017 Tune-Yards

This one is not necessarily a synth demo, but considering how prominent the DSI Tempest is featured, I thought it deserved a post. Also, I thought it was kind of cool that there is a credit for "modular synth" in the description for the video below. I remember the first time I heard this song in the background while posting away. About a minute in, I was like, "what the heck am I listening to?!" It was like the bizarre thoughts that go through your mind right before you fall asleep. Some of the other tracks on the album are like that as well. This track and some others grew on me. Regardless of our musical tastes, the Tune-Yards are great musicians and the production quality of the album is top notch.

"'Look at Your Hands' by Tune-Yards. New album 'I can feel you creep into my private life' is released January 19th 2018: http://smarturl.it/TYICFYCIMPL
