Yamaha CS Flute patch: Vangelis inspired played by Stephen Coker.

Published on Jan 28, 2019 Stephen Coker

"Stephen Coker playing a Vintage Yamaha CS60, flute patch.
This is a patch that most people overlook but nothing should ever be overlooked on this amazing instrument.

Because this is one of the most expressive synthesizers, infinite tone colors can be obtained. It always astonishes me how this synthesizer can sound like real instruments but, even better.

Though the CS 80 is the king of the CS line. With the CS 50 and 60, You can obtain any sound that Vangelis did, Partly because most of the time he used only a single layer on his CS80. And of course, the smaller CS synths have the expression and modulation systems within them. The beautiful thing about the expression mechanical system and circuit is that it also effects velocity as well as a aftertouch.

I believe the horns obtained by the CS line are the best out of all others synthesizers.

Of course, I'm biased because I think that everything the CS synth does is untouchable.

In fact, I have used this instrument on tracks that people believe has real horns on.

I can play this flute patch for hours and never get tired of it, just like every other patch on the CS60!

If you ever get a chance, get yourself a Yamaha CS synthesizer and you'll always have one of the very best instruments ever conceived of."

Reindeer Bells (Synthstrom Audible Deluge)

Published on Jan 28, 2019 Rephazer

"Last month I participated in a 'Secret Santa' challenge with some Kahvi Collective artists.

Every participating artist in the challenge (7 in total) had to create a sample pack, exchange them and make a song out of it. Sounds simple, but was quite a challenge to be honest.

Anyway I used the Deluge for making the song 'Reindeer Bells' featuring samples of the sample pack that I received as well as samples/patches which are included in my 'Rust' sound pack which is available at: https://rephazer.bandcamp.com/album/r..."

Using the radio as a noise source that can be modulated via scanning the dial. You also get some nice random transmissions, as well."

Midnight sound noodling with the JP-8 Clone

Published on Jan 28, 2019 tiergrinder

"The other night I turned on the 'Jupe' clone and just started to tweak some modulated synth sounds, without any special purpose or goal. Since I've not posted any sounds from this synth in a long time, I decided to turn on the camera and record a simple video. Nothing special or amazing, just the sound of the synth with some reverb from the Lexicon to show what I was cooking."

SELF PATCHED! Sputnik Quad Function // Pitch bends & sub audio blips

Published on Jan 28, 2019 DivKidVideo

"Here's the Sputnik Modular Quad Function Generator and Trigger Source. As it's a quad module it gives us plenty of looping envelopes, some that oscillator some that are triggered envelopes all patched back and feeding back on themselves for some complex function generator action.

SELF PATCHED! Is a series of videos filmed back in August of 2016 (so they look a little different but that direct audio is still clean and sweet … or noisy and mega harsh as the patching dictates. The series aims to explore and educate (myself and yourselves) about how these modules and circuits behave and how we can abuse and manipulate them outside the ‘norm’ by feedback patching them back on themselves. Treat the audio as “sample fodder” pick out little hits and cuts for percussion, odd spattering horror soundtrack sound beds or long feedback tones perfect food for a sampler to play polyphonically. It’s all just with one module patched back on itself, stack cables were my friends here."

Vintage Moog Analog Modular Synthesizer Performance - NAMM 2019 Moogseum

Published on Jan 27, 2019 ustadkhanali

"Hear this amazing historic 1967 modular system previously owned by both Patrick Gleeson of Different Fur Studios and Don Preston of The Mothers of Invention. I recorded this very short video yesterday at NAMM, holding it right next to the speaker so you could actually hear the audio on the very loud NAMM floor.

The modular is currently owned by Walter Holland of lauded Holland Synthesizers, designers of custom aerospace quality audio equipment. Holland and his musical partner Steve Leonard, keyboardist for The Cretones, will be demonstrating the synthesizer throughout the weekend.Holland’s monolithic four-tiered modular includes three prototype modules created by R.A. Moog, Co. in the late 1960s, making it a truly one-of-a-kind system.

Both gentleman were saying that this required constant maintenance, and indeed, while we were there, they were tuning it. Leonard said that if you were to go in back of the synth and fart, it would probably go out of tune! :D

I hope you enjoy this rare peak into an amazing, historic modular synth! BWHOBUBUBUBUBUBUBUBUBUWAHWAHWAHWAH!!!"
