GOODBYE VOLCA MODULAR // Preview of Patches 4, 5, 6,
Published on Mar 24, 2019 LESINDES
"Time to say GOODBYE to KORG VOLCA MODULAR.
Soundtrack of footage for unreleased PACTHES 4, 5, 6.
An inspiring machine with its drawbacks (PATCH DESCRIPTION in the bottom):
Visit me also on Facebook: Les Indes!
The MODULAR is a synthesizer with a potential but also with a lot of NOs, unfortunately. I really like the idea of it but it has:
1. unlike all the other Volcas NO Midi input
2. NO seperate gate input -- combined CV/Gate in so special stereo mini jack to 2 mono mini jacks cable needed
3. LPG is very low, only half as loud as LPG1, or my Volca is broken?!
4. Gate or CV output of keyboard and sequencer only in these fiddle sockets.
5. Cables with the soft easily bendable ends feel and are very fiddly. The raw cable ends slide easily out of the sockets even though you only gently touch the cables!
6. The black pot underbeath in front of both Cutoff pots should be the control voltage patched in sockets A + B but even if it is turned fully conterclockwise (= minimum) there is still CV being let out. I don't know if there is a work around for that or if my MODULAR is part of faulty batch??!
From min. 5 - 8 it is clock input is patched as source
by mistake but there is still a lot of entertaining tweaking
;-)
Patch is basically this:
Clock Div in WOGGLE 1 + 2
WOGGLE 1 in C
WOGGLE 2 in Space
Function 2 cycled in B
OSC in A
a+bxc/a-bxc in MOD/FOLD/RATIO"
J.S.Bach - Little Fugue in G minor - Played on a Realistic MG-1 by Moog Music
Published on Mar 24, 2019 MrCaliforniaD
"The MG-1 was built by Moog for Realistic (Radio Shack), and was designed specifically for the home market. Very basic and easy to use, this is a nice cheap way to get your hands on Moog sounds!
The MG-1 is a 2-VCO monophonic/polyphonic analog synth with a genuine 24dB/oct Moog filter, however the overall sound is thin. On the MG-1, the VCOs are referred to as 'Tone Generators'. It can produce sawtooth, square and pulse waveforms, and the oscillators are detunable and syncable. A simple ASR (attack, sustain, release) envelope called 'Contour' can be applied to both the amp and the filter. The LFO section provides triangle or square wave patterns as well as Sample-and-Hold. Additionally there is a simple Ring-Mod effect called 'Bell'.
Feel free to ask any questions."

Spiel is an in-situ performance for prepared mouth.
While absorbed in conversation you notice a stranger approaching. With a curious instrument affixed to their face the visitor leans in, and listens. The mouth opens, patterns of rhythm and sound emanate from within: voices recognizable as your own.
Spun out of focus, words reveal their ingrained subtleties as the collector of conversation captures the sentence but not the sentiment. Vocal exchanges are recalled and reflected. Voices are transformed by physical formant inflections, while acoustic hallucinations seem to reference what might have been said.
An étude on hearing lips and seeing voices, the performer’s mechanically augmented vocal tract reshapes and filters conversational spectra into new modes of mis-communication. Spiel physically unravels the tenuous synesthetic relationship between what is seen, heard and understood.

Voltage Controlled Motor Driven Oscillator Tonewheel
Published on Mar 23, 2019 artoftravelogue
"This is a demo of my prototype for a voltage controlled motor driven oscillator. This was developed in 2015 and performed with later that year at Chicagoland's Knobcon. The sound and everything you hear is directly from the instrument and not processed in any way. Check out my channel or website for other interesting instruments."

Sequencers & synths - Eurorack (Cursus Iteritas, Rene, DPO , Teletype, Quadra) & Skulpt
Published on Mar 24, 2019 junklight
"been learning the Iteritas and working on getting better results with Rene. I'm also finding the Teletype has really unlocked a lot of things for me - much easier to script big changes across the patch - here it is letting me slow the sequence down and simultaneously increase attack on the envelope.
Ended up in quite a prog-tastic place :-) there would have been more going on in the patch but I ran out of long patch cables :-( ordering some more."

Korg Poly-800 - Stringy padded things (some more patches/presets)
Published on Mar 24, 2019 DreamsOfWires
"I was briefly in possession of another Korg Poly-800 this month, which I only had time to use once, but I created a bunch of mostly string-type sounds, as I was originally aiming to re-record a couple of old uploads (links below):
https://youtu.be/zTeToEsccEE
https://youtu.be/utquF2PfV6o
https://youtu.be/lgMzxnj0ajM
The Poly-800 was a strange synthesizer; whilst being an 8-voice polyphonic synth (or 4 voices with 2 oscillators per voice) it only had one analog filter shared across all voices, which was limiting, but could produce some interesting musical results.

I'm not sure how much longer I can continue to create content for this channel due to financial circumstances. I've invested a lot of money into the equipment, camera gear, and even a computer to make it possible, for which I've got into a lot of debt. I enjoy doing it, but it has to be financially viable, and though I create these videos for free, my ambition was to make it pay for itself somehow, at least partially, via music sales, Patreon, or manufacturer sponsorship, but after almost 10 years that hasn't happened and my views and subscription rate is dwindling. In the meantime, if you can help share knowledge of my channel and music to others it would be greatly appreciated. As always though, thank you so much for your comments and encouragement over these past years - I cannot stress enough how much it has meant to me.
