"This unit has been fully tested and it sounds amazing! This SDE unit does not come with rack ears. This is the second of two identical SDE modules. I have re-used the photos of the first unit [SN 00362] because they are identical in every way. The serial number of this second unit is # 398.
A pair of original SIMMONS SDE owners manuals are included along with all of the original SIMMONS packaging."

"main features:
29 tiny soft touch foil keys on a detachable slim line keyboard with short cable
built-in speaker
8 notes polyphony
separate knobs for main and rhythm volume
tempo knob
6 preset rhythms {waltz, samba, swing, slow rock, pops, rock} selected by a slide switch
8 OBS preset sounds {piano, elec. piano, organ, pipe organ harp, accordion, clarinet, violin} selected by a 4-step slider + switch
main voice CPU "HD44140, 3G 13" (56 pin SMD) with timbres based on multipulse squarewave tones with different digital envelopes, those are differently low pass filtered through capacitors. It makes very warm and pleasant timbres, but envelope release phase is truncated too soon, which makes piano- like tones less natural.
rhythm IC "NEC D8048C 316, 8322X7" (40 pin DIL, same like in Casio MT-40 that outputs trigger pulses for analogue drums).
analogue percussion {base, snare, open cymbal, close cymbal, clave}; cymbals and snare use transistor noise.
jacks for AC adapter & headphone"

"The K5000 was Kawai's top of the line music workstation digital synthesizer when it was released back in 1996. It's a bold and elegantly designed synth with a large LCD display, realtime controls and incredible sounds! The look and functionality is rivals the competition from the time...the Korg and Kurzweil .
The K5000S (pictured above) adds 12 dedicated knobs for hands-on control of filter, LFO and envelope parameters. There are 4 user-definable knobs and 2 assignable switches. The K5000S also has a 40-pattern arpeggiator on-board with 8 user-definable patterns too! K5000's have been used by Kraftwerk."

"If you are reading this the chances are that you know exactly what this keyboard is all about, but essentially this is 2 DX7s in a box with a bigger keyboard. I still have the manual and a couple of data cartridges including the DX7 master that has 'master group' + 'keyboard & plucked group'. The other cartridge is a 3rd party product and full of FM sounds from the era. The real joy of this board is that you can double the sounds, slightly detune one bank and the whole thing sounds enormous . For me this is the pick of the DX range."
