"Rare E-MU Systems EMAX I HD Plus SE Rack Sampler. Model 2121 Factory HD Plus SE version. Internally mounted SCSI2SD board with SD card capable of holding nearly 160 banks in the floppy drive slot. Comes loaded with many custom and factory library sounds I will include download links for entire Emax library as well. Also includes factory installed external SCSI port on rear.

System boots up in seconds from SD card. Banks save and load nearly instantaneously. The HD advantage is huge over standard floppy or Gotek systems as every function of the unit is faster and more responsive.

Display has been updated to a beautiful white OLED display. Sadly pictures can't do justice to the quality of the OLED. Recently recapped motherboard. New high quality universal input power supply Sliders cleaned and lubed. Switches and key contacts cleaned. Everything works as it should. Incredible sounding sampler with analog processing. SE features provide deep synthesis."

"Recently serviced, calibrated, and upgraded by Analog Synth Service (early 2020) in Oakland, CA

So this OB1 has better-than-original functionality, as it has the upgraded Tauntek Programmer board, which adds the following features to an already powerful synth:
1) 64 programs (8 banks w/ 8 programs each)
2) Programs are stored in non-volatile EEPROM. No battery needed. YAY!
3) After a program is loaded, only controls that have moved are "live", so patch editing is now possible
4) Manual mode forces all controls to be "live"
5) Comes with 24 pre-programmed patches, which can be over-written later if you chose
6) 20-turn trimpot for easier one-time oscillator tuning adjustment"

"Electronically this is in very good condition - all electronic components are fully operational. Cosmetically not too bad for its age. Mechanical aspects of instrument needs TLC: Keyboard bushings definitely need replacement. A couple of the switches probably need replacement. All sliders and pots in very good condition."

Sonicware Liven XFM Prototype - Demo 5 - Dub Techno

video by ChrisLody

"Time for another XFM demo. I built a very glitchy preset pattern for the XFM last week so I went into the studio intending to make something like that, but as soon as I made the filter pad chords I got distracted into making some Dub Techno. Not a genre I've really tried before but it works really well on the XFM

Both the percussion tracks on this have lots of modulation of their source sounds and some probability thrown in so the hits won't always trigger so there's plenty of glitchiness there. They are both filtered so a bit of tweaking adds some interest there too.

The other two tracks are both built from the DSTR (Distorted Pad) and B.TRP (Bright Trumpet) sounds that I made which creates a nice noisy waveform. The pad is filtered with the band-pass filter opening and closing with the envelope while the noisy lead sound uses the high-pass filter which almost gives a distorted electric guitar sound to my ear. It makes for a nice dark mood but with a worn sound to it somehow. The pan control is automated on both of these tracks too to widen the sound. Lovely stuff"
