Alexander Rubenstein: How the most basic patch ever saved my recording session
"Welcome to the captivating world of synthesizer compositions!

Today, we're thrilled to present an inspiring entry in the Synthesizers.com composition contest, featuring the incredible talents of Alexander Rubenstein. Dive into his stunning creation, aptly titled "Why 5U?" and get ready to be transported into a realm of sonic magic and unique melodies.

Alexander's brilliant performance showcases the use of three Q106 Oscillators expertly played by hand, navigating through filters and VCAs to create a rich, mesmerizing soundscape. As the symphony unfolds, you'll also notice the inclusion of two more oscillators, cleverly routed into a DIY lowpass gate to offer a tantalizing percussive structure that breathes life and rhythm into the piece.

Alexander stays true to his personal preference by working with a carefully curated selection of simpler modules from Synthesizers.com. In this enticing performance, he includes the Q106, Q107, Q108, Q110, and Q157 modules, each bringing a unique layer of depth to the mix. The creative arrangement and impeccable execution of this electro-sonic ensemble are sure to leave you awestruck!"

"Today, we're excited to share Alexander Rubenstein's inspiring creation titled "How the most basic patch ever saved my recording session." Alexander's innovative and alluring performance began with a modest patch that had the power to spark a symphony of synth sounds.

At its core, Alexander's composition started with a single oscillator patch, a testament to the concept that sometimes, simple is better. As if by serendipity, this 1-osc patch in the background of the studio one night unlocked a world of creativity, paving the way for arpeggios, a thunderous 3-oscillator bass, solo, and lead sounds that transformed into an astonishing and immense song. 🎶"

"Welcome to the Synthesizers.com Composition Contest 🎵

Today, we're thrilled to present an inspiring entry by our talented contestant, Tony Obr. Tony has masterfully crafted a breathtaking composition titled "Tearing Apart the Fabric of Space and Time" using modules from Synthesizers.com to innovate and amaze the audience.

This intricate patch is filled with an array of subtle details; Tony has artfully employed one of his favorite tricks: transposing a voltage sequence from a sequencer using an LFO. The result of this clever technique brings life and variation to the pitch sequence in a way that's both harmonious and unexpected.

The following Synthesizers.com modules play a crucial role in creating the spectacular soundscape of this composition:

Yamaha DX7, TX81z, SY35 and SY77: The Ultimate Review

video upload by Off The Matrix

"This review compares the sounds of a DX7, TX81z, SY35 and SY77 side by side. Over 20 years was spent creating the Off The Matrix patches, so the review will reveal the true strengths of each of the instruments. The first part will be a demonstration the DX7, TX81z and SY77 playing the same patches. To my surprise the TX81z sounded better for a couple of the patches. The video will cover the strengths of the TX81z and SY35 over the DX7. The video will end with demonstrations of the SY77 patches as well as the new SY99 samples. A TQ5 was used to play the TX81z patches, so through much of the video the SY35 is playing the TX81z patches.

Acidbox III dark ambient with the DB-01 and Perkons

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Last time Perkons got the Acidbox IIIfilter, this time the DB-01 gets a turn. And it turns out two vicious filters in series, both with sample and hold LFOs running in sync but with different times, gives some interesting tones. The first few minutes is me explaining the patch, then at 4:32 I shutup and just twiddle. But maybe it would be better without the talking?
