BAF 2024: Mystic Circuits - Idum - Ana 2
video upload by sonicstate
"At Buchla And Friends 2024, Eli from Mystic Circuits showed us some of their new modules. They announced that Idum, a gate effect proccesor which had been out of stock for a long time, is back and redesigned. Idum now has a new firmware update that adds requested features such as the ability to put on more than one mode at once. They also demonstrated improvements to the behavior of the looper, allowing for more flexibility in capturing inputs. Eli then revealed their upcoming module, Ana 2. This module is an analog logic module that offers various combinations of signals for ring mod-type effects. The new version of Ana now includes LED indicators, a multiply input with a bipolar VCA on both inputs, and additional output options such as the cut output and swap output.
Idum Price: 295 USD
Ana 2 Price: TBC

Creating a midi controller for the microKorg
video upload by Dean Coyle
"I really do love the microkorg, I think the features it brings at the price point were amazing when it first was released. It gives you enough of a taste of important tools synthesizers use to create sounds. I think it could be a great beginner synth, but then again it is still used by LCD soundsystem to the Killers.
I set myself the challenge of creating a midi controller to help unlock features of the synth and make it more user friendly. My goal was to move away from the matrix tool and have a control for every possible control.
Ok on reflection this is turning a microkorg into a ms2000.
Though I do find the synth a lot more enjoyable to play and feel more in control of shaping the sound.
Normally I would cover more of the coding and electronics, but I don't think I can do Notes and Volts justice: https://www.youtube.com/c/NotesAndVolts
Overall it was a fun project, there are a couple more synths that need this treatment.... watch this space."

"What does Korg's microKORG 2 sound like? It sounds like this!
Well, at least it sounds like this at the moment, but as they clearly stated at their booth, the demo units were prototypes and the production version is not finished yet. Therefore, it only had 6 presets - all of which were named NAMM 'sonething'.
But still, here is a quick taste of the microKORG 2 sound engine as it stands today."
Yamaha SEQTRAK | Individual Synth Sounds
video upload by Sounds Like This
"What does Yamaha's SEQTRAK sound like? It sounds like this!
Well, a fraction of it anyway. It should come with more than 2000 preset sounds - and no keyboard...
So given the setting and time, I just browsed through the first couple of hundreds at the Yamaha booth at NAMM 2024.
Not really possible to make a lot of musical sense with just 7 small plastic pads, but hopefully you can get an idea of (some of) the included sounds."
