Additional SYNTH CITY Listings
"This JX-8P is far from good condition. Aside from the aftertouch being a little stiff, the synth is fully functional with no other issues we could find. It's definitely seen a fair amount of use and abuse in its time. This isn't for no reason however, as this synth has some really neat sounds and features in its back pocket. Some of this wear on the synth includes: minor cosmetic play wear, worn away faceplate labels, scratches along the perimeter of the synth, some deeper scratches that are pictured and side panels that are just about ready to another dimension. The plastic on the sidepanels went a little brittle and the bushings gave way. It's a fairly easy repair if you have the time and patience, but as of now we do not."

EMS (Cornwall) Ltd VCS3 mk2 2017 SN 1527

"This particular VCS3 was built by RObin Wood, who fitted most if not all of the recommended modifications.
On the back there's an extra gate input (1/4 jack) and next to the patch matrix there are 6 mini jack inputs (6 patch pin to mini jack cables come with the synth) for:
- glissando
- envelope follower
- pwm osc 2
- pwm osc 3
- signal invert
- resonance
So these can be modulated/ modified from the patch panel or external signal.
Other mods include:
Switch for hi / lo frequency on all 3 vco's
Oscillator sync (with potmeter to determine amount up to hard sync) for osc 1 and 2
Filter slew switch
Filter 18/24dB octave switch
Potmeters for the already mentioned glissando and envelope follower
Trapezoid invert (0 at 12 o' clock)
Trapezoid time x 10 switch
The VCS3 is in perfect condition, works like a charm and it 's such a pleasure to handle a 'vintage' synth with new controls. Don't let the year fool you, the sound is everything you can expect from an EMS Synthi. (I have owned several over the years and to my ears there is no difference between a vintage mk2 or this EMS Cornwall VCS3. An original Putney, mk1 power supply, from the early years is a different story ofcourse. By now I tend to prefer the fuller sound of the re-issues or newly built synths over the sharper sounding originals.... but ofcourse, that's a matter of personal taste. And it's a real EMS synth!"

Ambient pads using FM on the Waldorf Iridium
video upload by Martin Stürtzer
"In this video I create a pad sound with the Waldorf Iridum using the Kernel engine. I allows to use FM synthesis, like in the classic Yamaha synths, but also goes beyond the original design by involving Wavetables and other fun stuff. Sounds complicated? Then watch this one!"

Bad Gear - P-6
video upload by AudioPilz
New intro music.
"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. Roland is the ACME corporation of music technology: no day passes without me finding out about yet another strange product from the colossal portfolio they built up over the last 5 decades.
Today we are going to talk about P-6 and it seems like Roland took every single bit of sampling technology from this poison cabinet of intellectual property and put it in this LoFi sampler for ants.

Pairing the Metal Fetishist with Make Noise Maths
video upload by Body Synths
"I've been using modular synths for years and somehow I've never tried Maths before so it was about time to give it a shot. It makes a pretty good pairing with the Metal Fetishist, don't you think?"

The Soul of Moog One: Custom Sounds
video upload by Synth Universe
"A musical exploration of Moog One featuring custom-created patches from five years of owning and using this monster synth.
Does it have a characteristic sound? What are its sweet spots? How does its sound compare to the Moog Muse? I hope this video will help to answer those questions.
With the Moog One discontinued and the release of the Moog Muse, I figured it was a good time to make these videos. The Moog One has at times been misunderstood and maligned. It didn't offer the sonic 'instant gratification' of some other classic synths because in a way it's in a category all by itself. It takes time to figure out how to get the best out of it, but when you do, it's one of the most powerful, musically rewarding and inspiring synths ever made.
All the sounds you hear in this video were created by me on the Moog One 16 voice and include poly synths, pads, strings, ambient, soundscapes, keys, brasses, leads, bass and chimes.
Any effects you hear on the sounds in this video are internal to Moog One. I mainly use delay and reverb and several patches use no FX at all. I generally do not use the chorus and modulation effects as they colour the sound too much (in fact my main use of the chorus effect is set at 0% mix to add gain to patches). No external processing was applied.
*** If you are a Moog One owner, all the sounds in this video and many more will soon be available to purchase as part of the Synth Universe Moog One Sound Banks."
