First Jam with Dream Cinematic Synthesizer Solar 42N

video upload by Pipo Ferreira

"What an incredible machine. Had to capture the very first little jam with the new Elta Music Solar 42N. Just got it this week and finally got around to playing with it today. Just scratching the surface of what it can do. Can't wait to learn all its intricacies and develop some techniques with it so I can hopefully take it to a future live performance. Dream synth for me!

Also, can't wait to sample it a bunch into the Elektron Tonverk.

Stick around for future jams with it if you are interested. And, of course, thank you for watching/listening!"

Another great vintage goes Eurorack, TTA Resonator Module

video upload by Tiptop Audio

Check with dealer on the right for availability and price.

"With the Resonator , we were able to recreate one of the most legendary resonator designs of all time — and make it affordable. This module recreates the resonator section of the iconic 1975 Polymoog, now enhanced with voltage control over every parameter, selectable frequency ranges for each resonator, multiple gain stages, an emphasis CV with limiter, and a bypass switch. It is strictly analog, with no LEDs or digital circuitry that could contaminate the grounding with hiss, ensuring a pure, clean analog sound — the dreamy, resonating tones at their finest.

Originally designed as an end-of-chain effect for our polyphonic modules, the Resonator also excels with a wide range of audio sources, including samples, drums, and even full mixes. Despite its extensive feature set, the design occupies only 16HP and remains highly affordable.

Check out the Resonator at:

A note about video sound quality:
YouTube plays compressed audio, which significantly affects sound quality. Compared to the original recording, the audio will generally sound muddier and harsher in the highs. However, it still provides a good sense of the character and tone of the demoed device.

Patch Overview for this video:
The first few scenes feature a polyphonic sound generated by Triax8 through Octopass , then through Octogain (not shown in the frame), and finally into the Resonator . From the Resonator, the signal goes into the Z5000 Multi-Effect module , with a bit of processing applied via the mix knob. The sound is output in stereo, either directly to an audio recorder or routed through the Z-DSP for extra reverb.

In the final scene, Tiptop Audio drum modules generate hi-hats and snare, which are mixed using the MIX7 module and then sent into the Resonator. The bass drum comes from the Tiptop Audio ONE sample player. Octolfo , the module on the left, provides multiple fully independent LFOs to modulate the many CV inputs available on the Resonator."

SOMA WARP - Part 1. Master effects (SOMA labs demo, no talk)

WARP is a high-quality multi-purpose audio processing unit, able to add might and magic to almost any instrument. It contains 15 different effects that can be divided into three types:

Spatial effects — ranging from traditional reverbs to granular, experimental algorithms, with pitch-shifting, reverse and micro-loops. Most of the spatial effects feature extremely long decay times, all the way to infinity. With feedback ratios above 1 you can drive the algorithm into self-oscillation for creating endless, rich, lively soundscapes out of almost any sound. To keep the sound under control with reasonable headroom and tonal aesthetic, all the generative algorithms include dedicated modules to automatically control sound levels.
Special effects — such as flanger, sample rate/bit reduction, vintage tape simulation. All special effects include unusual functions giving them a unique SOMA flavor.
Dynamic effects and filters — compressors, distortions, filters. All the effects in this category can be applied to submixes, e.g. a rhythm section group, or even to the whole mix – so one can conventionally call them master effects. All the effects in this category also have their unique extended features, SOMA-style.
All of that makes WARP a great unit for spatial processing of any acoustic or electronic instruments — guitar, vocals, strings, synthesizers etc., — as well as processing drums or complete mixes. WARP uses top-class audio chains and AD/DA-converters, same as those found in the best professional audio-interfaces made by APOGEE, FOCUSRITE, LEXICON, ECHOAUDIO, LINE 6, NOVATION. This prevents sound deterioration, even in such demanding situations as processing a complete mix. WARP has stereo inputs and outputs, compatible with both balanced and non-balanced connections. All of the sound processing is digital, including the MIX control. The AD/DA resolution is 24bit/48KHz. The internal digital processing resolution is 32bit IEEE.

WARP has a simple, intuitive interface, with instant direct access to all functions — perfect for playing live. Every processing parameter has a dedicated CV input, controllable via Eurorack systems and any CV source.

How John Carpenter Created Fear with 5 Notes | The Halloween Theme Synth Story

video upload by Nostalgic Explorer

"What happens when fear is built from just five notes? 🎃

In this episode, I explore the haunting genius of John Carpenter’s Halloween Theme — a soundtrack that changed horror forever. With low budget for an orchestra, Carpenter composed the theme inspired by a rhythm his father taught him as a kid. Using synthesizers and pure instinct, he scored one of the most recognizable horror songs of the 80s.

I’ll also recreate the track in my studio using the Roland Juno-60 and E-mu Proteus 1, running through an Akai MG614 mixer and Ampex MX-10 preamp, capturing that analog tension that defined the original.

💬 If you know more about the original synths used, drop your theories in the comments!
