"The Kawai K5m is a late-80s rackmount digital synth that uses additive synthesis to create complex, evolving sounds from many harmonics. Its very powerful, known for shimmering, metallic textures and deep sound design potential.

Could be that studio sleeper you’ve been looking for. Tested in great working condition overall with mild rack rash."

Fully analog with a mellow, vintage tone, it’s a fun and inspiring little machine that can even play chords, and looks right at home next to a classic chair with those beautiful retro colors. "For the uninitiated, the Lambda is a fully polyphonic keyboard, brass and string synthesizer with two sections: Percussive (Pianos, Harmonics and Clav) and Ensemble (Brass, Organ Chorus and Strings). The sounds from these sections can be used in any combination and output together in mono or stereo.

The chorus phase effect is rich and sounds great when using the Lambda in stereo. The effect can be set to either or both the Percussive and Ensemble sections and its speed can be controlled with the joy stick. A pair of tuning controls allow you establish the range of the chorus phase, from minimal to lush to seasick.

Everything on the Lambda works as it should and sounds excellent. All the jacks work as well. The expression jack uses a control voltage pedal, not a standard expression pedal. I’ve used an Expressive Touché controller with this (set for 0–5 volts as required for the Lambda), and the keyboard responds with volume changes accordingly.

The sliders work fine, with no noise or stiffness. All the controls turn and function as they should."

Tempest :アナログの咆哮とリズムの肉体性(2022.03.20) from X

video upload by Suzuki Ryo

*Beyond a drum machine: A record of the Tempest as a true 'instrument.'*

Despite its notorious OS instability and the inherent temperamental nature of its analog circuitry, there is a distinct tension in this archive—the feeling of wrestling with the machine to weave a sonic narrative.

The visceral 'stickiness' of the low-end when the filters are tightened, and the organic tonal shifts driven by the sliders, produce a raw, physical resonance that digital synthesis can never truly replicate.

I’m surprised and deeply encouraged to see so many people taking the time to explore my past archives recently. I hope this video reaches those who appreciate the subtle, living textures of sound."
