The Optical Sampler Sound Kraftwerk Loved Modernized
video upload by HAINBACH
"When optical sound sample players came around in the form of the Mattel Optigan, Vako Orchestron and Chilton Talentmaker in the 70s, the reaction was luke-warm. The devices were not a commercial success and quickly disappeared. But one enterprising band from Germany took their lofi sound to heart. Kraftwerk employed the Orchestron in many songs, from Das Model to Uranium. Even today its finds fans - such as Kyle Dixon of Survive, who used the iconic "choir" in their Stranger Things soundtrack. He employed the modern adaption of this arcane technology, the Quilter Labs Panoptigon. I talk with Kyle in the video, show a bit what you can do with the Panoptigon, demo classic Kraftwerk patches and introduce my own disc for this fantastic instrument.

Chilled Future Garage with Dirtywave M8
video upload by Electronisounds Audio
"Chilled Future Garage on the Dirtywave M8 Tracker.
Samples only, no internal synths used. The samples are from various sample packs I've already got, and I also found some more samples on Loopcloud. Vocals are from Loopcloud as well.
I really like the vibe of this track. đź’™

This one was spotted and sent in via M Me.
"At first glance, the EL2 features a classical, subtractive signal flow. A closer look then reveals some cool oddities like unconventional filter slopes, extensively equipped modulators, a band echo simulation and a spring reverb. The EL2 features a completely discrete circuit design. Its sound is creamy and fat at the same time. Thanks to NOS components, the instrument has a nice vintage vibe. Compared to its predecessor, the EL2 offers some very useful additions. – Especially its three oscillators have been extended considerably."

Patching a modular sequencer from basic building blocks
video upload by Tom Churchill
"This is a patch with two voices playing relatively complex complementary melodies - but I’m not using a dedicated sequencer module to drive them. Instead, I’ve patched up a sequencer from scratch using a couple of voltage-controlled switches, a couple of clock dividers, a matrix mixer and a quantiser. All I need to feed in are a simple steady clock and a fixed offset voltage, and I get loveliness out. Find out how in this video!"

Thank you for watching.
My name is Meska of the statik collective . I've been making mostly "dark and expérimental" music for more than ten years now, i'v learn so much online, now it's time for me to share my knoledge, my exploration and this channel is a place to talk about the tools, sound design and techniques to make music with.

Chris Meyer’s trick WavPak for the ModBap Osiris digital wavetable VCO
video upload by
"need to writeThe ModBap Osiris is currently my favorite wavetable oscillator: it has high fidelity, built-in processing such as stack & detune, a suboctave, a VCA, and more. It also allows you to load your own waveforms into it.
This caused me to sample my favorite waves and tricks on my “Monster” Eurorack modular system and load them into the Osiris, so I could take some of my favorite sounds with me on the road in my travel case. I created four banks: East Coast, West Coast, Formants, and Harmonics.
I did not just sample, say, the sawtooth wave of all of my VCOs; I created patches like audio-rate waveform crossfading, processed them through tube VCAs, sent the fundamental plus second or third harmonics of a warm sine through Serge-based wavefolders and rectifiers, and dialed in my favorite sounds on the Livewire AFG, Verbos Harmonic Oscillator, and Xaoc Devices Odessa as well as different formant filters and filter banks.
As fun as the individual waveforms are, the real trick is what I did with the Y axis of the wavetables: Instead of just loading more waves, I filled them with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th harmonic of the source waveforms. That means as you modulate the Y value, this WavPak smoothly crossfades between different consonant musical intervals to the root (octave, octave + fifth, two octaves, two octaves + third, two octaves + fifth, and three octaves). When layered with a second oscillator tuned to the root pitch - or with the Osiris’ own subharmonic - the result are musical intervals under voltage control. Used with the Osiris’ subharmonic plus its stack & detune algorithm, and now one VCO sounds like three - with custom waves!
This WavPak is currently available for free from ModBap: https://www.modbap.com/collections/wa...

Arturia Polybrute 12 Analogue Polysynth Sonic LAB Review
video upload by sonicstate
"Its a beast and as such does not deviate too far from the orginal synth in terms of the architecture. What it does have is double the polyphony at 12 voices, plus a brand new keybed which not only features Poly Aftertouch, but a new control paradigm called FullTouch which allows expression to be controlled from the moment you touch a key.
We reviewed the original when it first came out, we recommend you watch that for a deep synthesis dive. In this review we're looking at the new Keybed and FullTouch feature - it really adds some deep expression to the instrument.
The poly Aftertouch also allows for per voice morphing which really is a joy to play too (thanks to the question on Patreon by Steve Elbows on our preview video)
Another aspect is the stability of the tuning and calibration (_Truck asked about this) for 24 filters and 24 oscillators I found it very good, I only calibrated it once and didn't need to again.
Nice work Arturia, though its not what one would call affordable,I think it represents a reasonable value for money given the number of voices and features."
