Knas Ekdahl Polygamist Discontinued

via Knas

"I have decided to discontinue the Ekdahl Polygamist until further notice. It breaks my fucking heart, but i see no alternative. Long story short, the Polygamist in its current form is much too complicated to build, takes too long, have too many things that can go wrong with it, is nowhere near generating enough cash - and all this, makes it infuriatingly frustrating to build. Nevertheless, there might be another Ekdahl Polygamist in the future if i can change production methods. Sorry to disappoint, but nobody's as disappointed as me :("

Click here for previous posts of the Polygamist including video. Another synth lost to complexity. The Jomox Sunsyn suffered a similar fate if I recall correctly.

"This synth is in great condition, both cosmetically and physically. Sounds fantastic. Auto-tuning function works perfectly.

If you have played a SunSyn, you know that this is a fantastic sounding analog synth, and has some of the most powerful modulation routing capabilities of any analog synth ever made.

Also includes an extra voice cardfor spare parts (PWMod on extra voice card doesn't work, but it still might be useful someday for parts)"

Some interesting bits from the listing:
"Please keep in mind, if you are buying this synth you need to be prepared to tune it using the auto-tune and also calibrate the envelopes manually every 3 to 5 months. Its a lovely synth. Easily the best in my Studio as a polyphonic synth. it can do what most poly analogs can do but so much more because of the RCO's and the complex modulations possibilities. Be aware it only has 2 envelopes so if your looking for more this synth is not for you."

Oribtal's Live Rig

via Tim Mantle on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

"In response to a recent Orbital post, sorry about the quality of this shot. I had work to do Royal Albert Hall"

Synth spotting: I'm guessing that's a Roland Jupiter-6 on top, white MacBeth M5N, Jomox Sunsyn, Moog Voyager, DSI Tempest, & iPads.  Not sure what's to the right of the Tempest.  The notch & colors almost look like a MicroKORG, but the keys look too large.

What synth would you pick?

Update via Tim on Facebook: "All ipads and novation controls immediately to the right of the tempest. Phil on the far left was in control of the desk, 303, 909, some outboard effects and in fact the sh9 I mentioned earlier. A mac book with Ableton is what actually went next to the Jupiter 6"

"Jomox Sunsyn Mk1 8 voice analog synthesizer. This synth is pretty rare, there were only 200 made, and you don;t see them come up for sale that often."

Imagine opening up that box. One of the most coveted poly analog monster synths imo.

"Jomox Sunsyn Mk1 eight voice analog synthesizer. This synth is very rare, less than 200 made and you don't see them come up for sale more than a couple times a year. There is a reason for that: they sound incredible! My favorite analog synthesizer, amazing analog sound that's very unique. NOTHING sounds like a Sunsyn. The routing and modulation capabilities are great and it's all very easy to use and hands on with minimal menu diving. The RCO's are fantastic and the variable four pole filter is one of the best I've used. It can do classic analog synth sounds but with the RCO and routing it reaches into new territory. This synth is in excellent shape and fully functional. This is a V1, very late SN 016x. Being a later SN it is a bit more stable than some of the earlier ones... I would take this over other modern synths like the Andromeda and older stuff like Memorymoog or Prophet 5. It seriously sounds that good, a king for pads and modulation effects."

The MK2 was discontinued in December of 2010

"Here is your rare chance to own a Jomox Sunsyn Mk2 eight voice analog synthesizer. This synth is very rare, less than 200 made and you don't see them come up for sale more than a couple times a year. There is a reason for that: they sound incredible! Not only that but this is a rare Mk2 upgraded from a Mk1. I don't think I've ever seen another Mk2 for sale. It costs a lot to ship it in for the upgrade and takes quite a while. With the V2.0 it's super stable and gives you no chance for issues. This synth is in near mint shape and fully functional. Lightly used and was a backup in my studio. Sadly this is the last one I have to offer for sale. This is a V2, SN009x."

Jomox Sunsyn Synthesizer Version 2.0 OS

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction

"This is a great opportunity to own a fantastic analog polyphonic synthesizer. New Jomox Sunsyn 2.0 were extremely expense and the upgrade of version 1 to version 2 was also very expensive. Version 2.0 OS adds great functionality and stability to an already wonderful synth. It is rare to find a Sunsyn for sale; even more rare to find an upgraded 2.0."

I have never had any bug issues with this one. This was a backup unit and lightly used in a smoke free home studio. Probably the nicest one you will ever find. This is the last one I have and I was planning to keep it. Only selling it because I have other urgent purchase needs for my studio right now. I would take this over other modern synths like the Andromeda and older stuff like Memorymoog or Prophet 5. It seriously sounds that good, a king for pads and modulation effects. Buy it now before I change my mind! See pictures below for more details. Don't miss out!" A few more pics are at the auction.
