Quick Look | Inside the Peavey Spectrum Synth: 'Contact Without Static' Repair
Thoughtful Clips
"My latest web-find is a used Spectrum Synth with sound quality issues. Some diamonds in the rough need only a bit of attention to become star performers again.
Like many American-made synths of the 90’s this box is full of audible potential & easy to figure out.

PEAVEY SPECTRUM SYNTH
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
This appears to be the first auction post to feature the Peavey Spectrum Synth. There is also a Peavey Spectrum Bass Synth, and Peavey Spectrum Filter. You can find a demo of the SPECTRUM SYNTH here.
"This Peavey works and sounds great but sometimes it freezes. After a quick reset it works great again. Im thinking it might be the 3v battery but Im not sure. Its full of a lot of terrific presets. This synth is deep and Stereoping makes a controller for editing."

Peavey Spectrum Synth multi-timbral demo with MPC1000XL
Published on Jun 19, 2015 stereoping
"A little realtime arrangement demo-ing the Peavey Spectrum Synth. The Peavey plays all synth parts getting most out of it's 6-part multitimbrality: bells, dark analogue horns, cello pad, lead synth and 2 different bass sounds. Sequenced on the MPC1000 which also brings in the drums and some vocal samples of a Laurie Webb sample cd. Minimal setup: The Peavey's output is put into the MPC's sampling input to make use of the MPC's internal effects (Reverb&Delay). Hope you like it."

Peavey Spectrum Synth Male Choirs
Published on Oct 3, 2014 stuthomson
"My own male choir patches on the Peavey Spectrum Synth. Starts with a string ensemble. Features the PC-1600 Programmer. The effect is a lexicon MX200 chorus with a touch of reverb."

Peavey Spectrum Synth Demo
YouTube via stuthomson
"The most mysterious, misunderstood and under-rated digital synth ever made. Look under the hood 123 waveforms (I kid you not). 4 oscillators, 2 filters (each configurable to LP, HP and BP). Four (yes, I said 4) envelopes, 2 LFOs and lots of other goodies but no effects!. Dont buy the module without obtaining software I use WinSysex with the Spectrum Synth .ini file. For this demo I have the unit connected to a NanoVerb chorus"

Peavey Spectrum Synth Demo #2
YouTube via stuthomson — April 24, 2010
"Released in 1995, the Spectrum Synth Digital Module was a marketing failure due to the tedium required to program it with the PC1600 slider panel. Sliders were not labelled and you had to scroll through menus. No software was released with it. Has 4 oscillators and over 100 waveforms (no kidding). No internal effects so this recording was made using a Lexicon chorus with a touch of reverb. I took down my demo #1 'cause it was mono and it sukt." Part 1 here
