Minimoog Model D vs Voyager

Published on Oct 17, 2015 Rhythmicons

"This is just a comparison between the Minimoog Model D and the Voyager's different waveforms.
I realize after making this that one can't really compare one synth's saw to another's square."

Deep Bass from the MOS-LAB Synthesizer

Published on Feb 27, 2015 Rhythmicons

"I recently acquired a 2 oscillator MOS-LAB synth voice centered around the 921ab compliment. This is just for everyone to get an idea about the power of these oscs, particularly for purposes of comparison to the recently re-released Moog System 15.

After the initial waveform analysis, I started a ubiquitous Moog style plucked bass sequence. Some noise was added for percussive effect.

Vive la France!"

Für Froese (Modular Synthesizer Peformance)

Published on Jan 24, 2015 Rhythmicons

It appears I missed this one. Better late than never.

"In remembrance of Edgar Froese.
This is a live performance centering around a Synthesizers.com Modular, Moog Taurus III Bass Pedals, and accompanied by Theremin and Moog Voyager. Instruments processed by both tape and analog bucked brigade delays.

Vielen Dank, Herr Froese."

ála Subotnick

Published on Feb 7, 2015 Rhythmicons

"Inspired by a technique mentioned by Morton Subotnick in the 'I Dream of Wires' documentary, I took three sequencers at different rates and lengths to create a sort of pseudo-random or quazi-aleatoric pattern.

The Synthesizers.com q960 set at a very slow rate is controlling the pitch of the Moog Voyager. The q119 is controlling the Voyager's filter. The Moog CP-251 LFO is controlling the speed of the q962 Sequential switch , which is bouncing between the rows at its own speed. The output of the Voyager is gong to the Vermona VSR3 spring reverb.

If anyone has any ideas how to get rid of the hum, let me know.

Thanks for watching."

Complex Waveforms

Published on Oct 25, 2014 Rhythmicons

"Here we can see and hear the waveform generated by combining the triangle and square wave lfo from the Moog cp-251 with the square wave LFO from the Voyager. This is then sent to the Synthesizers.com Q106 oscillator."

Squarewave Filtering

Published on Sep 22, 2014 Rhythmicons

"A Tektronix 475 takes a look at a square wave generated by a Synthesizers.com q106 oscillator and filtered by a q107 Slate Variable Filter. The scope will show the effects of pulse width modulation, as it is being filtered though Lowpass, Bandpass, Notch, and High pass filter settings with and without resonance.

Towards the end of the video I will briefly select ramp, sawtooth, triangle and sine with the same above effects applied.

Sorry for the unsteady cam. Got your motion sickness pills handy?

Thanks for watching"

80's Sequence STG Mixer Test

Published on Nov 24, 2012 by Rhythmicons
"This is a test of a sequence before and after the installation of a new STG Soundlabs mixer module. The STG Mixer is a Moog CP3 Clone, and I'm hoping to get closer to the classic Moog Thump (a vague subjective description, I know)."

Droning Machine

YouTube Published on Jun 7, 2012 by Rhythmicons

"The Freqbox is a very underrated device.

This is very simple programming, just some slight modulation of the waveshape, to an overdriven 101 LPF. Then a random sequence with most of the pots totally CCW seemed to simulate a two person morse code conversation using the Ringmod as a pitch source.

Oscs sent to a synthesiers.com VCA and to the MF 104z Delay prior to going to the board.

I think the camera's mic input is mono."

Program for MoogerFooger Synth, Taurus 3 and Theremin

YouTube Published on Jun 5, 2012 by Rhythmicons

"The CP 251's LFO is the heart of the time driven events in this program. It is driving the rate of the Sequencer, the sample and hold that is sent to the MF-101 filter, and is being lag processed and controlling the pitch of the Mf-107 Freqbox. Noise from the CP is also being processed by the 103 Phaser.

The q119 is modulating the pitch of the Mf-102, creating a melody, that is fed to the Synthesizers.com VCA, to the 104z Delay and to the board. The q119 is also firing gates to the envgen which is controlling the vca.

The Voyager is taking a nap in this piece, but is midi controlling the Taurus Pedals. The touch surface is activating the sequencer.

The Theremin was obviously a lacking overdub, but I was in a hurry to finish this program so I could rip the cords out and start over.

Cp251: Lfo squarewave multiplied: 1. Lagged, sent to Freqbox Freq In. 2. Sent to q119 to control rate. 3. Sample and Hold to MF-101 Cutoff Frequency
Noise source sent to phaser, Phaser output to board.

Q119, 1x24 stage sequence modulating the freq input of the mf102. Gate output to Envgen.

MF102: Audio to VCA then to delay then to board.

Voyager: Midi controlling Taurus 3, Touchscreen"

Don't hate on Trek.

Moogerfooger on Rhodes.

Beats and a Bassline with Noise and a Sequenced Low Pass Filter

YouTube Uploaded by Rhythmicons on Apr 1, 2012

"I began this program attempting to create a noise based drum sequence, by using the sequencer to modulate the Moogerfooger 101 Filter, but when I turned the resonance to maximum, It came with a bassline included! Best listened to on Good Speakers.
I then ran that through a phaser and delay for other effects."

First Sequences with Voyager, Taurus, and MoogerFoogers

Uploaded by Rhythmicons on Apr 1, 2012

"This is the first sequence that I programmed with a brand new Q119 sequencer from Synthesizers.com. I ran the sequencer through the freqbox, the 101 filter and through a Moog 104z Delay. The sequencer is running a 3x8 sequence controlling the freq of the Freqbox, the Cutoff Freq of the Filter and the Delay Time. Modulation of the Delay time creates alternate "squashed" pitches that simulates polyphonics.

THe same sequence is then sped up and sent to the Taurus 3, where I do an impromptu Voyager solo over it......without thinking to tune the instruments together first."
