Appendage Touch Ribbon Sequencer and Klee: Controlling Synced VCO

YouTube via ScottStites
"This patch uses the Appendage Sequencer to control two VCOs - one master and one slave. The Appendage Bend Voltage is also patched to the V/Oct input of the slave VCO. The Bend voltage is also patched into the Min/Max function of my mixer - bend voltages below 0V open a VCA that controls an LFO that is patched to the pitch control of the Sequencer, allowing the LFO to modulate the frequency of both VCOs.

The TFS voltage is used to open a VCA that controls the level of an LFO controlling filter cutoff - the farther apart two points of pressure are, the more the VCA is opened, allowing more modulation to the filter. The Appendage is in voltage mode, so that voltage is non-linear.

The Klee Sequencer is processing a one bit pattern, which is controlling a VCO and the resonant MS-20 clone filter, which provides a sequenced backing for the video."

Appendage Touch Ribbon *Sequencer * - First Video (With Klee Accompaniment)

YouTube via ScottStites
"This is a demo of a very basic application of the Appendage Touch Ribbon Sequencer I'm working on. The sequencer can be clocked, or steps can be selected by the ribbon. In this video, various step values are programmed in and accessed by the Appendage. The step voltage is driving a VCO. The slide output of the Klee is controlling filter cutoff. The TFS output of the Appendage is also controlling the cutoff of the Triple Wilson SVVCF module, which is processing a copy of the Appendage driven VCO and also the signal controlled by the Klee, which is providing the sequenced accompaniment. So, stretching two points of pressure affects the sequenced part."

Appendage and WaveThing CMOS Divider Test

YouTube via ScottStites
"This is the Appendage controlling a single VCO. The VCO is processed by an experimental circuit that multiplies the sawtooth output of the VCO by 8. That signal is then divided down and shaped with resistors and diodes to form pulse and sawtooth waves. I recorded this video as a record of the experiment - I have Wave Thing circuits that work better."

Appendage: Test Driving the Dragon Controller

YouTube via ScottStites
"This is my new Dragon Controller driving the Appendage. It's made of an exotic hardwood, with an Asian Dragon motif carved in it. I' ve got it plugged into the Appendage controller, and it's driving a fairly simple patch. The video demonstrates the ease with which one can change the dynamics of what the controller is doing using the Appendage. Finally, in this video, the Appendage is driving a pair of pulse wave VCOs through a new filter prototype I've been working on the past week or so.

I used some red font that really crapped out when rendered - I overlaid that part with annotations so they could be readable."

Klee Sequencer 69 - Chaining Two Klee Sequencers

YouTube via ScottStites
"This is the first opportunity I've had to chain two Klee Sequencers together. Two or more Klee Sequencers can be chained together by connecting the gate bus out of one Klee to the random input of another Klee, and vice versa. In that configuration, both Klee's share the same pattern - the pattern cycles back and forth between both Klee's. This video uses a four bit pattern, but because both Klee's are in 16X1 mode, it turns into a 32 step sequence. Each Klee is controlling it's own voice in this video. This is a very simple patch - the number of permutations derived by chaining Klee sequencers is quite vast."

Photon's Klee - Random, 8X2, Gate Bus 1 Load , Invert B Kwik-Vid

YouTube via ScottStites
"This is an extra Klee I have on loan from electro-music's Photon. It's a really nicely built and arranged Klee. I've got the hood popped so I can look at the guts (really nice wiring in this). This is a quick video of it controlling two VCOs with the A output while the filter is controlled from the A+B output. It's in 8X2 mode, random mode, with my Blacet Dark Star noise output driving the random input. I flip between Invert B On and Off, and Gate Bus 1 load on and off to vary things around."

Appendage as Keyboard Modulation Controller

YouTube via ScottStites
"The Appendage is patched as a keyboard modulation controller controlling three parameters from a single control surface: Filter cutoff, Triangle Vibrato at one frequency, and Pulse Vibrato at a higher frequency. The position of the initial pressure controls filter cutoff. Sliding up from the initial point of pressure introduces triangle vibrato. Sliding down from the initial point of pressure introduces pulse vibrato."

Klee Sequencer: 3 32 Step Sequences Controlling 5 Voices

YouTube via ScottStites
"The Klee is generating a 32 step pattern because it is set to invert the 16 bit pattern each time it passes through. Each voltage output is unique, so there are three thirty step sequences. Each output controls a synth voice, plus two drum voices are driven from the gate bus."

Klee Sequencer and Appendage: Klee Bit Shuffle

YouTube via ScottStites
"The Klee is controlling my modular - the Appendage Touch Ribbon makes an appearance as well, controlling a couple of VCOs through my Triple Wilson SVVCF."

Appendage and Klee - Wilson Triple SVVCF High Resonance

YouTube via ScottStites
"This video has two VCOs controlled by the Appendage, through the Triple Ray Wilson SVVCF filter, which is controlled also by the Appendage."

Appendage and Klee - VCO Sync and Triple State Variable

YouTube via ScottStites
"This video uses the slide voltage for pitch control for two oscillators - a master and a synced slave. The slave oscillator is further controlled by the bend voltage."

Appendage Touch Ribbon: Initial Melancholy

YouTube via ScottStites
"Had to cut the highs to keep YouTube from mangling it. Initial Voltage controls VCO pitch; Initial, Slide and Bend control the Triple Wilson SVVCF module."

Appendage and Klee

YouTube via ScottStites
"My first (lousy) attempt at pitch control. It would be much easier quantizing initial pitch and adding bend. I think if one practiced and developed good eye-ear-hand cooridination, that it might work out pretty good even without quantization. Hey, they do it with theremins!
