TECHNOSAURUS MICROCON II Synthesizer SN TMII-2014

"For sale is this used Technosaurus Microcon II synth module. The Microcon is a modern-day little analog monophonic synthesizer module emulating the simple design and sound of classic Roland TB-303 and SH-101 synths. They are made by Technosaurus, a Swiss company best known for their high-end Selector modular synths. It is handmade using the same discrete circuits found in its bigger brothers. The Microcon II is the enhanced MIDI version of the Microcon I, otherwise, they are identical. Do not miss out on this rare opportunity to own a hard-to-fine modern masterpiece. This auction also includes Free Worldwide Shipping!

The Microcon is a totally analog table-top synth module that's slightly smaller than the original TB-303. It has one main oscillator capable of either sawtooth or square waveforms, just like the TB-303. The addition of a sub-oscillator is more like SH-101, which can help beef up your bass sounds. The analog lowpass filter is switchable as either 2-pole (12dB/oct) or 4-pole (24dB/oct), which is better than the TB-303 or SH-101 offered. The LFO can modulate the filter cutoff frequency with either triangle or square wave and the VCO can be modulated by square or triangle waves. Simple attack and decay envelope controls and a Glide effect round out this fairly simple to use and highly affordable 303 clone. The Microcon only uses CV and Gate for being controlled externally.

The Microcon II adds MIDI, making this cool little mono-synth available to the masses! The Microcon II has all of the features of the original, but adds MIDI IN for performance and control of parameters such as accent, cutoff frequency and glide. Also new are a filter input to process external signal sources, CV/Gate outputs added, and the Microcon II can be used as a midi to CV converter for other CV/GATE gear.

This particular example, serial number TMII-2014, is in very excellent all original condition. This unit does NOT included a power supply, though it was tested with a universal adapter."

"Up for auction is a rare Technosaurus Microcon. These are handmade in Switzerland using discrete components. This monophonic synthesizer has a single oscillator with a sub octave generator. Oscillator outputs both square wave and saw waves mixed with the square sub-octave generator. The analog lowpass filter is switchable as either 2-pole (12dB/oct) or 4-pole (24dB/oct).. The LFO can modulate the filter cutoff frequency or VCO by square or triangle waves. Simple attack and decay envelope controls and VCO glide. The Microcon only uses CV and Gate for being controlled externally .Included with auction is an AC adapter and small instruction sheet for external patching. 3.5mm stereo patch cables are needed to access the VCO/VCF/gate/external audio inputs.

The Microcon sounds massive due to using discrete parts. Very vintage sounding with Swiss made quality.

Technosaurus Modular tribute 2

YouTube via ISOTROPOSPHERE. follow-up to this post.
"This video is a slide show of sorts showing the steps taken in the construction of my DIY modular synthesizer cabinet. The modular features the small wonders series of synthesizers by the Swiss Company Technosaurus. The Technosaurus Microcon, Microcon II, and the Effexon. My modular cabinet features the Doepfer DIY kit #1 for the power supply and the distribution boards to the modules. The Doepfer R2M as my secondary midi to cv converter next to the Microcon II. Modules so far are only a switched multiple and the A-119 External Input.

The paint scheme I created was based on the Technosaurus Panel Design and colors and is a tribute of sorts to the Swiss manufacturer. The paint job of the cabinet and the blank panels took two weeks and even though it is not pictured in the video the bottom face was painted as well before the feet were attached. Also not pictured are the additional standoffs on the inside for mounting a thrid distribution board if needed. Power is supplied to the rear by a beautiful Neutric 90 degree xlr fitting.

All parts were sourced from here in the USA, excluding the DIY kit #1 from Doepfer which came from Germany
but was purched from Shawn Cleary at Analogue Haven. I spent close to $275 constructing all of this, not including any modules, the Technosaurus pieces, or the R2M. Thats for every nut, bolt, screw, paint, rails, DIY kit, XLR fittings
less my time and effort. If you would like a copy of my construction drawings, or any info on where I got something,
please send me a message and I will try to help you out.

This is a modular synthesizer (of sorts) and you can find out more about modulars via the wonderful source called 'The Web'."

"Microcon is a CV/GATE mini analog monophonic synthesizer module

Simple attack and decay envelope controls and a Glide effect round out this fairly simple to use and highly affordable 303 clone.
it also possible to use filter section with external sounds into it.

The Microcon only uses CV and Gate for being controlled externally
no MIDI IN/OUT

ATTENTION TO USE:

Microcon has a lot of function into a small package,
so each jack has dual functions.

you need attention to select connecting cables especially for GATE input
manual says,The units should be used with stereo 1/8" cables unless you specifically want to disable the oscillator
but this doesn't work with all gear combinations.

if you use mono 1/8" cables to GATE input, insert the gate plug only halfway to get the unit to sound
or use insertion cable(1/8" stereo to dual 1/4" mono cable)

Here's a rundown of the connections:
CV Tip - pitch control voltage
CV Ring - filter control voltage
Gate Tip - gate
Gate Ring - short to ground to mute oscillator (this is what happens when you use a mono 1/8" cable)
Out Tip - audio output
Out Ring - filter input"

"This is a very rare analog synth from the 2000s called the Microcon II. It’s a really excellent and phat sounding synth, and even has MIDI a for external control - an upgrade over the first generation. Fantastic build quality and this one is in great shape with only a few scratches. Available at Metro Gnome Music."

"You are bidding on a used Technosaurus Microcon I synthesizer. This is a tabletop monophonic analog synthesizer controlled by CV and gate. It is very similar to the Roland 303 bass synth. It was recently serviced by a professional in Los Angeles and works perfectly. It comes with power adapter. This unit is CVand gate only. There is NO midi. I bought this in Tokyo last year at the famous 5G synth store. I recently purchased a roland SH-101 and no longer have the need for the Microcon."

"Incredibly rare original editions of the Technosaurus Microcon (1997) analog synthesizer and Cyclodon (1998) step sequencer. A powerful combination. They sound amazing together. Ultra analog, with discrete circuitry.
Made in Switzerland.

The Cyclodon is in excellent condition, with very little wear. The Cyclodon shows signs of wear, as some of the lettering on the faceplate has rubbed off, as shown in photos.
Both the Microcon (original Mark I) and Cyclocon are extremely hard to find now."

"Nice fun little ultra-portable totally analog synthesizer, about the size of a VHS tape. (Remember those?) It was made in 1999 or so by Technosaurus, a Swiss company best known for their high-end Selector modular synths. It is handmade using the same discrete circuits as the Selectors. And built like a tank, it is, very solid construction.

The Microcon has one main oscillator capable of either sawtooth or square waveforms, just like the TB-303. The addition of a sub-oscillator is more the like SH-101, which can help beef up your bass sounds. Simple attack and decay envelope controls and a Glide effect round out the controls. Plus a little red button to trigger it manually.

Please note that this is the original Microcon, and does not have a midi output like the Microcon II. This version only uses CV and Gate for being controlled externally. The last three photos are pages from the manual describing its operation. You can download a copy of the manual for yourself at:" [link]

Laid out like a 1970s monosynth, the control panel offers six sections. The VCO is, as always, the first element in the main signal path, andin use proves to be remarkably stable. Furthermore, the discrete circuitry employed should prove to be future proof, unlike synths based on Curtis chips. There are four VCO controls and likethe TB303, the Microcon offers just square and sawtooth waveforms. However, unlike its Roland forebear, it also offers a sub octavesquare wave that you can mix with the standard VCO signal in anyamount from 0 100 percent. There is also a transpose switch ( 2octaves), and LFO driven pitch modulation.
