Was serviced a few years ago and everything is fully functional. Everything feels like new when playing it. "The most natural sounding electronic instrument I’ve ever played. The aftertouch is soooo dreamy. Need to fund other purchases. This is likely one of the last opportunities to own a CS 50 for this kind of money before full blown vintage market sillydom claims it. Purchased recently from second owner, very well looked after."

The CS50 is four voice polyphonic. The CS60 is eight and the CS80 is eight w/ two simultaneous patches. All three feature aftertouch but only the CS80 features polyaftertouch.

"The CS60 is an 8-voice analog polysynth, and is a scaled-down version of the mighty CS80. Each voice is a single VCO with a sub-oscillator, and a resonant LP/HP filter with its own ADSR envelope. There are 12 presets, and one user program. A ribbon controller for pitch mods, assignable aftertouch from the keys, and a ring modulator are great features of this 61-note synth.

This particular CS60 is being sold on behalf of John 'King Gizmo' King of the Dust Brothers, and is in very nice condition and fully functional. The Syntaur team did some minor repairs, and rebuilt the ribbon controller. The lid, the legs, and the legs carrying case are all included. Because of the size, weight, and value of this instrument, it is being offered for local pickup only. (Or we can possibly arrange for in-person delivery.)"

"The CS-60 is essentially half a Yamaha CS80, and around half the weight too, so there's less chance you'll need roadies and/or a chiropractor.

In addition to any necessary repairs, our tech did the following work to this unit:

Power supply unit removed and recapped.
Replaced power cord.
Cleaned and lubed all pots and switches.
Cleaned and lubed all bus bars and key contacts.
Replaced touch sensor felt.
Replaced a some trimpots to make tuning easier and more stable.
Recalibrated.

Unlike most others on the market, this one works perfectly and shouldn't need any costly trips to the tech anytime soon, and is priced accordingly."

Steve Fisk's 1976 ARP 2600 with 3620 Keyboard SN 0732 ?

You can find a demo by Steve Fisk at the 2011 PNW SynthFest demoing his ARP 2600 posted here (see this post for additional videos of the event). P.S. If you aren't familiar with Steve Fisk, see this Wikipedia article. His Yamaha CS60 went up for sale back in 2013. According to this auction by Salamander Labs, his 2600 is up for sale. I have no way of verifying, so do your due diligence if you are interested. Note in the video linked above there is a green monkey sticker on the front panel. It's missing from this ARP 2600 but you can see a slight discoloration where it would have been. As always, who knows...

"Ok, this is it. An Arp 2600 with keyboard used extensively as a live and studio instrument by Steve Fisk, whose comments and the unit’s pedigree are below. This instrument has been used on the road internationally, in studio, and live performance settings, and as a result has some cosmetic scratches. The power supply caps, speaker amp driver transistors, key bushings, and a few key springs have been replaced…and the shittyist plug ever used for a keyboard has been replaced as noted below….otherwise it is original. It is fully discrete, and the circuit boards are NOT epoxied so it can be serviced. A full factory calibration was completed by Gemma at Sound Audio Repair in Olympia, Wa…"

My 2600 is the first synth you see on the Arp 2600 Wikipedia page. I am the original owner. I bought the synthesizer in 1976. It was my primary instrument for years. I wrote and performed several noisy live pieces with the ARP. It was also my “jam” instrument for many improvs in Olympia and Seattle in the late 70’s. It was a key part of my live setup for Pell Mell, Pigeonhed, Customer Service, and Tiny Holes. It is also featured in much of my studio work with Pell Mell, Soundgarden, Pigeonhed, Reggie Watts, Unwound, Some Velvet Sidewalk and Seacats. The beast was my goto box for 808 kick drums(see Soundgarden’s “Spoonman” remix). It also did duty on several film soundtracks and corporate work. In 1995 the Jones plug that connected the keyboard to the main frame was replaced with a robust milspec connector by Omega Intl, a vintage synth service run by an ex roadie from the Moody Blues. It is in excellent working order despite some well earned cosmetic blemishes. I’m going to miss the spring reverb, a great resource for sound effects."

Yamaha CS-50 Previously Owned by LCD Soundsystem?

"This CS-50 was previously owned by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and housed at DFA for over a decade before it was gifted to John MacLean. You can see it on the DFA records facebook picture history in several shots. It is also featured in Attack Magazine (linked below). According to John it was used on basically every album by artists on the label from 2002 until around 2017 including LCD, Juan, Holy Ghost! etc. but he said it was "a nightmare to upkeep" so he sold it. It was never toured, aside from a handful of MSG shows about a mile from the studio. I told him I guess there isn't a good CS tech in NYC.

Mystery Circuits in Chapel Hill who is arguably the best service shop for vintage synthesizers in the nation completely overhauled the CS-50 in 2018 rebuilding the power supply, recapping all electrolytic capacitors throughout, future proofing the after touch and swapped genuine rebuilt M cards pulled from a CS-80 doner. You could tour with this CS-50 if you wanted to and have zero issues. Being a previous CS-80 owner, I can attest that this CS-50 sounds every bit as good as my old CS-80. It utilizes the same exact cards. It's about 160 lbs lighter than a CS-80 and with that weight loss you only lose the presets, ribbon strip, and 4 voices.

The cosmetic condition is very good, especially for its age. I would say 8.5 out of 10. No structural issues, but it does have a few small marks here and there. I have documented the cosmetic condition accurately in the pictures.

This listing includes the original lid and original legs."

Update: it's worth noting on a CS80 you get two layers or voices per patch, while with the CS50 and CS60 you only get one. You can select two different patches to layer on the CS80. Aside from the other differences noted, a CS50 and CS80 voice is essentially half a voice on the CS80.

"Unbelievable original 1970s Yamaha CS60 Synth. This was imported into the UK very early on in their production and was only the second one in the UK. It was imported by Mark Stevens of Mankind, who famously used this on Top of the Pops in 1978 to play Dr. Who. He can be seen playing this exact synth on their recording that day. It has been in his possession ever since and we recently had the opportunity to purchase this off of the friend who received it upon his death. It really is a synth of legends! It is in full working order, and we have videos of it working for anyone interested. When we received it it was quite dirty so we've given it a wipe down but have left the tape on the front for provenance. The exterior case is good condition with a few marks throughout. This really would be an amazing addition to any studio or collection."

"Yamaha CS-60 Rare 1977 Vintage Analog Synthesizer.

This is the most amazing synthesizer I’ve ever had and I hate to have to get rid of it.

This instrument is in really good condition due to the maintenance I’ve done to it over the years which Is

I Completely rebuilt the power supply and replaced every electrolytic capacitor in the instrument along with many other capacitor types which is close to 1000 capacitors. Also, I replaced all the CMOS chips and started replacing some of the voice card potentiometers. I documented all of the restoration done to the instrument and will give you that pictures and information, if you like.

There are a few things I haven’t got around to yet which are replace the pitch ribbon spring:100-200$ cost.

Replace IG 151 LFO chip for the ring modulator: 75-150$ cost and: replace the rest of the scratchy potentiometers on the voice boards 50-150$ cost but, the instrument works fine. The Only problem I ever have is it occasionally gets some static from a few bad potentiometers but after it warms up it’a fine.
