"A quick noodle on the GRP A4 Synthesizer… It is a wonderful instrument that can be used completely stand alone. The sound is definitely “modern” analog and quite precise.

But it can get real mean as it’s easy to overdrive the dual filters. If that’s not enough, there are also separate distortion circuits for each should you wish to engage them. 3 VCOs, S&H, 2 LFO's, Auto Pan, Sequencer, Ring Mod, Noise, 2 Filters, Midi, CV.. its pretty awesome.

No post processing.. recorded the stereo out directly into Ableton. The only addition is the Eventide H9 pedal providing some nice delay and the Octatrack playing a simple beat in the background.

I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed playing it. :)"

"This is another episode of PURE ANALOG here with ELEKTRON ANALOG FOUR Mk. 1 groovebox. Although A4 features a digital delay, chorus and reverb I did not use these as all the other on board FX of the synths that are being played hier in PURE ANALOG which is a project to find out and show the qualities of analog synthesizers and eventually also hybrids. And exciting Question is also how contemporary synths like this lush GRP A-2 or EREBUS NYX compare to vintage legends like MINIMOOG or ARP ODYSSEY or ROLAND JUPITER 4 etc. So this piece will be played and performed with different synths in the future track by track recorded in DAW without any equing or otherwise processed in DAW, no add modulation, reverb, saturation or other FX. Only a mastering compressor, EQ and Limiter is used on the sum. So what you hear is completely un-FX-ed material -- almost impossible to find these days!!!"

"The Grp Synthesizer was developed to offer the enthusiasts of analogical sound a more affordable synth in terms of price and dimension in comparison with the precursor model A8, without renouncing to the quality and performance that characterize our synths. Being featured with the same step sequencer used for the Grp A8, this synth is able to guarantee nearly infinite sound combinations due to the new characteristics which have been implemented in the instrument, with the possibility to filter out external signals and to manage all the important parameters of the analogical generation chain.

The A4 has been derived from an audio section of the Grp A8 (of which it takes over the structure) and it results more versatile and eclectic passing from smooth and extreme clean sonorities to harder sounds thanks to the two distortion installed in the synth (one for each filter) and due to the possibility to make interact synth, ring modulator, external signals and step sequencer in only on mechanism with an immense sonority power. Furthermore, the Loop EG function enables the conditioned and unconditioned repetition of the envelope, in order to reach particular and temporal articulated sonorities."

"The River from Baloran is not only a great 8 voice analog polysynth, it is also a control center for your studio. In this example, you will not hear the River only, but many other synths/FX.
In this movie, you can hear 2 River sounds:

- a simple sound bass processed through the GRP A4 BPF filter, animated through its step sequencer synchronised by MIDI. As the River only has a 24dB ladder filter, I wanted to test its oscillator with other filters. This sound uses a individual output, so it is not part of the main mix and is not processed by the River FX. The end of the signal goes to the Strymon Timeline.

- a classic analog pad using the 7 remaining voices. Those voices are processed with the Tri-Chorus and the River Digital FX.

Other sounds are from the analog rytm (processed thru OTO Biscuit bitcrusher/analog filter at the end), Novation Peak for metallic arp sound."

"the grp r24 is a 8x3 analog step sequencer firmly based on the mighty step sequencer previously developed in grp a8 and a4 analog synthesizers. the new r24 is full of control capability with cv/gate, midi and usb connections. hardware-wise, is stand-alone self powered, with hardware compatibility for mount on 5u module format; you can use in stand alone with its internal power, or you can install in your dot.com/cotk/moon modular system. r24 respects electrical and mechanical standards for the above manifacturers.

with the appropriate brackets included in the package the machine can be easily installed in a 19 "rack still, you can use r24's own cabinet as a "presto-cabinet" for powering and using your spare 5u modules. r24 has 64 internal memories for store and retrieve separate sequences; each sequence can be set in 8x2, 16+8 or 24 mode, with any step lenght user's selectable. r24 can act as cv/gate sequencer or as midi sequencer, with separate rows for midi note selection and for key velocity step adjust."

GRP A4 sequence 3:1

"This sequence was made with the mighty GRP A4 synthesizer. 2 oscillators receive different notes. 1 oscillator just receives the gates.

I have added some reverb and delay. The sequence is transposed via midi.

I am wearing gloves because my special fx team instructed me to do so. However the effect became less dramatically as I have used it under daylight. ... doh ..."
