Tweaking The Stock Novation Circuit Presets

Published on Nov 3, 2016 tarekith

"A simple video showing how easy it is to quickly make the stock Novation Circuit presets a little more to your liking using the Isotonik Editor. In less than an hour you can change all the presets to be more appropriate for your own personal tastes and musical styles.

Through Canyons Made Of Glass

Published on Sep 13, 2016 tarekith

"This live set was written and performed entirely on a single Novation Circuit. The only processing applied was normalizing the audio file to -1dBFS. No mastering or other process was applied, what you hear is straight out of the Circuit.

The custom sample pack I used for the sample flipping is available for free at my website: tarekith.com. You can grab high-quality audio versions of the set there as well.

Enjoy!

50 Minutes Live Rephazer Jam/Set (Elektron Octatrack & Analog Four)

Published on Aug 31, 2016 Rephazer

"The set starts with some minimal melodic dream house stuff, goes into more abstract techno and finally into some trance..It consists of previous made/posted Rephazer tracks in a (4 on the floor) context which I hope you'll enjoy. I had a lot of fun making and recording this, but since I recorded this in one go so some mistakes are to be expected (as usual) also the audio/video quality is probably not the best that I've posted, but I had to make some concessions with a long set like this.

Tracklist:

1. Dreams (00:03)
2. B-Side (05:18)
3. Looking Forward (09:55)
4. Minimal Movement (14:01)
5. Battle For Harmony (19:16)
6. The Sky Was Pink - Nathan Fake Cover (23:46)
7. The Chase (28:24)
8. Crazy Dutch Bastard - Co written by Jas van Houten (32:23)
9. Short Circuit (37:08)
10. Heart & Soul (42:08)
11. Life Goes On (47:08)

Some technical details for the ones interested..

Octatrack:

Track 1 = Bassdrum
Track 2 = Top Beats and Percussion
Track 3 = Melody
Track 4 = Bassline (Additional)
Track 5 = Melody 2 (Additional)
Track 6 = Atmospheric/FX
Track 7 = Master Recorder for transitions
Track 8 = Master Track

Using 6 scenes for breaks/drops/filters and 2 scenes for transitioning between songs.

Track 7 is constantly recording the main output into the recording buffer of the Octatrack using the Quick Record Function...Sort of Tarekith Transition Trick so thanks to him for the idea! (Check his YT)

Analog Four:

Audio goes into the Octatrack and is Directly send/monitored to the Master Track 8.

Track 1: Hihats and Electronic Percussion
Track 2: Atmospheric Pads 1
Track 3: Atmospheric Pads 2
Track 4: Main Bassline

Also thanks to the Teenage Engineering OP-1 and Mode Machines vPed for being good 'sample food' for the Octatrack ;)"

Electribe 012 Processing the Monotribe

Published on Mar 3, 2016 Computing.Sound

"Thanks to tarekith for the idea to do parallel processing with the Electribe 2.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF9DK... [featured here in order]

Check out his videos, they're really good and in-depth.

The Korg Monotribe is routed into the Audio-Input of the Electribe 2.
On the first eight pads OSC TYPE is set to "409 Audio In".

Each part is filtered. 1 by a low-pass filter, 2-7 by a band-pass and 8 by a high-pass. These filters are modulated by mod type 67 Random.
Additionally the IFX is on and set to 24 Short Delay.

On the master I used 01 Mod Delay.

Recorded this with my phone and a Zoom H-5."

Electribe2 Tips & Tricks

Published on Aug 24, 2015 tarekith

"A quick video showing some tips and tricks for the electribe2. I recommend watching it in HD in order to see the display screen values better.

Some of these are briefly (or poorly) mentioned in the manual, and some were discovered by other users on the Korg forums or electribe Facebook group. I'm not claiming to have created these all, just demonstrating them.

Tarekith Electribe Live Set 05-30-2015

Published on May 30, 2015 tarekith

"Well, I knew I was going to start working on an electribe set after I wrapped up my Maschine Studio live set, I just didn't expect it to be the very next day! Sat down a few times throughout the day to polish up what I was working on in the electribe lately, and decided to cull a few songs that just weren't fitting the vibe I wanted.

I started getting an idea for a new electribe project while I was doing all this, but I knew that I had to put some of these current songs behind me before I could wipe everything and start from scratch on a new project. So, I decided to record a short live set with some of my favorite patterns at the moment.

I was mainly using the Wet Reverb master effect to help with transitions between patterns, I haven't been able to figure out a smoother way without knowing the track order ahead of time.

This is probably a good bit more basic sounding than my Maschine Studio live set, but I still enjoy working this way and seeing what kind of music I can write when using tools a bit more limited.

Audio only version:

Happy that I was able to use some of these ideas I've been carrying with me as I journeyed from one continent to another, but also looking forward to starting over on a new electribe project now that I'm settled. Expect some more grey Korg box music shortly! :)"

Electribe & Gadget Transition Test

Published on Jan 4, 2015 tarekith

iTunes: KORG Gadget - KORG INC.
Korg Electribe2s on eBay

"Just trying out a combination of the new electribe and an iPad Air2 running Gadget as a possible future live set up for me. This is my first go at performing any sort of transition between songs using the two. The electribe was providing sync and transport control to the iPad via a CCK, audio from the iPad was run back into the electribe set to Audio Thru mode.

The audio was recorded straight from the output of the electribe, via Mogami cables to a Lynx Hilo A/D/A, and then recorded as 24bit/44.1kHz wav file in Ableton Live 9. Warping turned off.

Hopefully that gives you a sense of what the new electribe really sounds like."
