VERMONA Mono Lancet ’15/meloDICER: Loop Recording with Ableton Live

video upload by vermonagear

00:00 - Intro
00:11 - track 1: Bass
00:21 - preparing track 2: Arpeggio
00:42 - activating track 2
01:18 - preparing track 3: Pad
01:45 - activating track 3
02:20 - preparing track 4: Percussive Melody
02:49 - activating track 4
03:41 - finished performance

"Here we have a small setup consisting of a Mono Lancet ’15 as the sole sound source, a meloDICER with MEX3 as sequencer and ‪@Ableton‬ Live for Loop recordings.
We prepared four tracks in Live to record various synth parts in a live session. We’re setting up all Mono Lancet ’15 sounds on the fly and continuously change parameters on meloDICER for generating different patterns for each track.

All the effects that you hear come directly from Live (delays with a little bit of reverb). The meloDICER is synced through the MEX3 companion module via MIDI clock to Live.

We recommend the use of headphones or good speakers for the full sound experience"

DRM1 MKIV: chirping forest kit (one beat // different sounds # 2.3)

video upload by vermonagear

00:00 - Intro 00:09 - Starting the Beat 00:51 - All Instruments "Can the DRM1 MKIV sing like a bird? Find out by watching this video. There is nothing left of the sound set from the last episode. We wildly tweaked all 73 knobs on our drum synthesizer and came up with the sound set we call the _chirping forest kit_.

The sequence was programmed with the sequencer of the mighty DIGITAKT II from ‪@WeAreElektron‬ But there are no external effects. What you hear comes directly from the main outputs of the DRM1 MKIV.

Too squeaky for you or just right? Let us know your opinion in the comments below. If you want to be notified when we post a new video, please subscribe to our channel and hit the bell.

DRM1 MKIV: electronic master kit (one beat // different sounds #2.1)

video upload by vermonagear

00:00 - Intro
00:10 - Start
00:56 - beat with all instruments

"We used the powerful sequencer of the Elektron Digitakt II to create a new beat for our one beat // different sounds series. We call the first set of sounds the *electronic master kit*. The DRM1 MKIV produces typical analog drum and percussion sounds without any external effects or sound processing.

The beat itself has 32 steps and is played at 83 bpm."

Mono Lancet ’15 - Acid Bassline

video upload by vermonagear

00:00 - Intro
00:07 - Just Mono Lancet ’15
00:47 - Distortions from Filter Lancet

"Can Mono Lancet '15 do an acid bass line? Let's find out with this video.
The first half of the video is Mono Lancet '15 without any effects. In the second half we used Filter Lancet to add distortion. We didn't use any other effects.

The Mono Lancet '15 is sequenced in LogicPro.
We only used the first oscillator, set to sawtooth. Glide is set to AUTOGLIDE, which means that it is only activated on overlapping notes (legato) in the sequence. During the performance, we play with the CUTOFF, RESONANCE and EG INT controls on the filter section, as well as the DECAY and RELEASE knobs on the envelope generator."

PERfourMER MKII - rubber band session #2

video upload by vermonagear

"Another attempt to synchronize the cutoff frequencies of our PERfourMER MKII with rubber bands. We mounted the chrome knobs from our Action Filter to the cutoff potentiometers of the PERfourMER MKII. They are a bit larger in diameter and have a good grip. But the rubber bands are still not perfect.

We sequenced the PERfourMER MKII from Ableton Live and also used the standard delay plugin as an effect. What do you think of this performance? Let us know in the comments below."

Flanging PERfourMER MKII

video upload by vermonagear

"Today we are going to feed our PERfourMER MKII with a little MIDI sequence. The fourth synthesizer channel plays the bass, while the first three are connected in PLAYMODE P2. This means that each incoming MIDI note triggers a different synthesizer channel. We will introduce the first three voices, one at a time to develop the sequence.

The MAIN OUT is routed through LogicPro, where we add flanger and delay effects.

Enjoy the performance!"

VERMONA meloDICER with 1010music nanobox | fireball

video upload by vermonagear

"Since we released the MIDI companion module MEX3 for our meloDICER, you can use it with any polyphonic synthesizer that has MIDI inputs. In this video we have connected the eurorack duo to a ‪@1010music‬ nanobox, specifically the Fireball wavetable synthesizer. What a great sounding little box! Enjoy this little performance. If you like it, please leave a thumbs up, a comment and/or a subscription.

Special thanks to our friends at ‪@tomesoTV‬ for lending us the Fireball!"

PERfourMER MKII - rubber band session #1

video upload by vermonagear

"We are playing the PERfourMER MKII's cutoff frequencies and keep them in sync with the help of some rubber bands. OK, it's not a perfect synchronization, but, on the other hand, these deviations turned out to be quite musical. We are still working on improvements."

DRM1 MKIV - one beat // different sounds - part 4: distant hits & dry growls

video upload by vermonagear

DRM1 MKIV - one beat // different sounds

00:00 - Intro
00:12 - Start the beat
01:42 - Outro

"In the fourth episode of our “one beat // different sounds” series, we start with a high resonant low snare with a lot of reverb tail—notice how the snare sound reacts to velocity.
The kick growls with a medium decay, while DRUM 1 adds another deep percussive kick whose BEND is very velocity dependent.

Please use headphones or a good pair of speakers as you may not be able to enjoy beat 4 on a smartphone or the speakers in your flat screen."

video upload by vermonagear

DRM1 MKIV - one beat // different sounds

00:00 - Intro
00:12 - Start the beat
01:20 - Outro

Drum kit No. 3 for our *one beat // different sounds* series. We still haven’t changed any of the steps in the sequence, so the only variation is in the timbres.
Here we have made the CLAP instrument much shorter and with only one click at the beginning. The SNARE has a long and bright noise tail. Also both HI HAT channels got a larger portion of noise, compared to last week.
Don’t forget to use headphones!

Let us know in the comments which instrument you like best in this video."

DRM1 MKIV - one beat // different sounds

00:00 - Intro
00:12 - Start the beat
01:30 - Outro

"This is the second part of our DRM1 MKIV video series “one beat // different sounds.” We still have the same beat from last week with 91 bpm and 16 steps, sequenced by the Korg SQ-64.

This week’s kit is a bit more aggressive and higher pitched. There are no external effects, just the DRM1 MKIV. Headphones are recommended!"

DRM1 MKIV - one beat // different sounds - part 1: the soft kit

video upload by vermonagear

DRM1 MKIV - one beat // different sounds

00:00 - Intro
00:12 - Start the beat
01:31 - Outro

"This is the beginning of a new video series about the DRM1 MKIV. We will feed our drum synthesizer with the same beat, but in each part of the series we will use different sounds. We want to explore with you how the feel of the rhythm changes when the tones are altered.

Here, we are using a Korg SQ-64 sequencer to trigger the DRM1 MKIV via MIDI. The first sequence has 16 steps and a tempo of 91 bpm.

We recommend the use of headphones! No external effects are used. Enjoy the video."

Brothers 👨‍👦‍👦 (Vermona DRM1 MKIV 8-voice analog drum synth // Perfourmer MKII + H9 + Bigsky + Pill)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"First video featuring the Vermona DRM-1 8-voice analog drum synth 😊 For a long time I've been stopping myself from getting one as I already have the MAM ADX-1 which is a bit an ancestor of this DRM-1! But the Vermona Perfourmer was feeling a bit lonely 😅

In this video, I decided to use my DAW to sequence both instruments as I wanted to be able to "play" the knobs on the instruments 😉

The track starts with the BASS (Voice 1 of the Perfourmer) and PLUCK (Voice 3 panned left & voice 4 panned right, of the Perfourmer through the H9 reverb). Then comes the KICK (Voice 1 of the DRM1) which is going into the Pill ducking pedal to trigger it.
Afterwards arrives the LEAD (Voice 3 of the Perfourmer through the Bigsky reverb + Pill ducking pedal) and the 7 other voices of the DRM1 (wanted initially to use them through the Particle granular delay, but didn't have enough time to blend it in! 😅).

* Hardware used *

// BASS:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voice 1

// LEAD:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voice 2 + Strymon Bigsky (reverb) + Pill (ducking pedal)

// PLUCK:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voices 3&4 + Eventide H9 Max (reverb)

// DRUMS:
- Vermona DRM1 (8-voice analog drum synth)

Retroverb Lancet: More Than Just a Spring Reverb

video upload by vermonagear

"We have several spring reverb products, but Retroverb Lancet is our most versatile. It has a multimode filter, a VCA section, and an overdrive.

For modulation sources, Retroverb Lancet has an LFO that can be synced to incoming gate signals, an envelope generator, and an envelope follower.

Do you know the typical sound of a spring reverb that has been kicked? With Retroverb Lancet, you can create that sound with the push of a button, or even trigger it with an external gate signal thanks to its unique CRASH function.

Retroverb Lancet is so flexible that it can even create percussive sounds. We made all the sounds in this video using it. If you want to learn more about Retroverb Lancet, please visit our homepage (www.vermona.com). You can also leave your comments below, and we will be happy to answer them.

meloDICER/MEX3 — Jam Session with Logic Pro

video upload by vermonagear

"We hooked up two MeloDICER/MEX3-collectives to control software instruments in Logic Pro.

The left meloDICER is playing a bass guitar software instrument with a repeating pattern. The right meloDICER hits the keys of an electric piano plugin. It runs freely without repeating patterns while we are changing some settings regarding REST probability for voices 2 and 3, rhythm and melody.

Logic Pro is the drummer.

We hope you enjoy our little jam session. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions or hints and would be happy to receive a thumbs up from you.

Trickledown Modular Tetris - A Quick Test After Filling The Holes

video upload by John L Rice

"Another quick test after changes. This is another side affect of the @vermonagear MEX3 coming out, because when making changes to my briefcase system I ended up stealing the @4ms_company Wav Recorder from this system for it, so I had to fill in the left over 6hp of space with something else. 😅🤓 I put in the @division6labs Mix VI and @noiseeng Clep Diaz."
