KORG Delta DL-50

images via this auction

"Delta is rather a underated synthesizer. It has both a Strings and a Synth section whose outputs can be mixed together or sent on separate paths to facilitate using different external effects on each section. The keyboard can be triggered from an external source such as a rhythm machine (KR - 55 etc) and this can operate on both Strings and Synth sections or one or the other by selecting with the Single/Multiple switches for each section. Having the Owner's Manual has been essential in getting the best out of the Delta.

IMPORTANT:
THE FILTER HAS BEEN TWEAKED SO THAT AS THE RESONANCE KNOB APPROACHES 10, THE FILTER BEGINS TO SELF OSCILLATE. THIS IS MUCH MORE EXTREME THAN THE FACTORY SETTING AND PRODUCES SPEAKER BLOWING EFFECTS!"

Pneuma

Pneuma from Richard Lainhart on Vimeo.
via Richard Lainhart.
"Pneuma" is based on growth patterns generated by celluar automata software, processed in Adobe After Effects to create constantly changing structures ranging from crystalline to architectural. The soundtrack is a live improvisation on the Buchla 200e analog modular synthesizer, controlled by the Haken Audio Continuum Fingerboard fretless keyboard. This HD version was rendered in May, 2008.

Warning: "Pneuma" displays an intense, periodic flicker pattern that some may find uncomfortable. Those subject to seizures should not view this film.

Yamaha SS30-M in a Rack

SS30-M - A Yamaha SS30 in a rack-mount, with MIDI, is a blog dedicated to the construction of a rack mounted Yamaha SS30-M, analog string synthesizer. There are a couple of YouTube links in the top post but they didn't work for me. If they do for you, post a comment. Be sure to scroll when you get there to see prior posts.

[Drone] Mono-Poly - Space Storm

via Dennis, aka mono-poly on modularsynth.net where you can find more discussion.

The sound is a Buchla 158 vco trough a Plan B Model 13.
The model 13 is being modulated by a psycho lfo.
The 158 is beinf fm-ed and am-ed by a Buchla 144.
In the am path there is a vca being modulated by a cycling AR envelope.
In the fm path there is a vca being modulated by a lfo.
Each 144 vco is bein modulated by a Waveformcity.
One sinewave and the other a wavetabel
The Waveformcity is also being modulated by a very low running sequencer and envelope generator.

Everything goes trough a TAB equalizer and Phillips Compressor.
And proccesed with a Non Lin Reverb.

Noise without a noise module

via Kwote on the forum

stormdrain.mp3

"VCO -> mult -> filter/phaser/ringmod -> filter/phaser/ringmod -> 3p mixer;

EG -> dual VCA A input -> 2nd dual VCA A input/filter freq cv;

2nd dual VCA A -> phaser freq cv; 2nd dual VCA B -> ringmod freq cv;

lfo sawtooth -> Dual filter -> VCO 1v input

modulated to taste.

the EG was just for sweeping everything. but for just straight up noise they can be omitted.

like Rlainhart said i'm just feeding sinewaves(oscillated dual filter outs) into the VCO 1v in

i'm gonna try a more extreme version once i have access to more sinewaves. thanks Richard."

via Richard Lainhart on the forum:
"If you feed enough inharmonic sine waves into the frequency modulation input of a VCO, you'll get noise, or close too it. The last piece on this page:

http://www.otownmedia.com/he/earlyworks.htm

'A River On Cold Mountain', uses that technique. No noise, no filters, just FM sine waves."

Sequential Circuits Prophet 5: Adding MIDI Compatibility

YouTube via gearwire
"Ever been searching for gear on eBay or craigslist for, let's say, a Prophet 5, and you come across a price that's just to good to be true, and then upon further inspection you realize that some dude is selling a non-functioning unit, which is why you can actually afford it, so you throw your hands up and curse the heavens for knowing nothing about soldering or even electrical engineering?

Chicago DJ / Producer Ross Kelly had this exact experience, except he actually knew how to make his basement-find fully-functional once more. Not only that, be he added MIDI compatibility in the process. Show-off. In this video he runs through the multitudinous and now-working sounds of his Prophet 5. See more on Gearwire.com."

Live Techno Jam 3

YouTube via siedgey
"Evening all! Here's a wee jam that Mr Copy and I had earlier today - we decided to dodge the minimal for a bit and make something harder...this is what came out.

It only took us 1.5 hours so keep your words kind - it was just for a laugh! As always, thanks for watching - check out Mr Copy's new release "Minerva" on Soma Records on June 16th - it's a belter!

I have produced versions of my latest videos (and one other that's not a video yet) on Myspace and they have been attracting some nice attention...I'll let you know if anything comes of it all. ;)

Simon"
